I know you guys have talked about the Scorpion King transfer before, but I saw it last night for the first time, and It blew me away, it is simply the best picture that I have ever seen in my house, and in most theaters for that matter. I watched it on my 138" screen, What a treat. I have not seen the HULK, that would be a hard one for me to watch.

The Scorpion King wasn't that bad, it was decent. Plus it had Kelly Hu...can't go wrong there. lol.

My God, I can only imagine the Scorpion King is horrid as Hulk is pretty much the bottom of barrel.

That seems to be a recurring theme....I'm not saying there aren't exceptions, but it seems like most of the great transfers are crappy movies.

Best for me would be Hulk and crappy is Miami Vice.....

in the extreme minority in thinking HULK is just an okay transfer, and just an okay movie. not horrible.

Edit: Oh you were talking about the movie. Well, it's still a thread fart, but not the egregious one I had thought on first sight.

I disagree, I could stand watching Scorpion King multiple times as opposed to The Hulk. BTW I think the transfer is as good as anything yet produced on HD DVD.

Ok guys, people are confusing things.

As far as 'movie' goes... most will agree The Hulk was a bad one.

As far as picture quality, detail, and color pallette goes, The Hulk is excellent.
The Hulk and King Kong are truly the two best looking films on HD-DVD.

I haven't seen "The Scorpion King" on HD-DVD, but it did have a very good mpeg-2 codec version on D-Theater. I assume the VC1 version on HD-DVD is at least equal. This would make it one of the better looking HD-DVD movies, maybe on par with The Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift, but not in the same tier as KK or Hulk.

The Scorpion King looked great on DTHEATER. That's why I have no plans to get the HD DVD version. But it is good to read it came out fine just in case...

I enjoyed the Scorpion King,it was entertaining and it didn't take itself too seriously.Plus, any chance to see a stripped down Kelly Hu in HD is fine with me!!

I loved the Scorpion King for the same reasons - a lot of campy fun.

Same here, I could watch Scorpion King many times. Kinda reminds me of the Conan movies, good old fashion Iron Age butt kicking.

Not so much for the HUlk. Picture quality wise I give Hulk a slight edge, I've yet to see better images on the close up shots. The detail in the actors faces was incredible.

I can't imagine what the Searchers will look like on that big screen of yours. On my 42" plasma, it blew me away ...

Which is better? Hmm.

www.rottentomatoes.com to the rescue.

Hulk - 60% approval rating:

Hulk Link (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/hulk/)

Scorpion King - 39% approval rating:

Scorpion King Link (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/scorpion_king/)

Personally, I'm a little surpirsed the Hulk got as many good reviews as it did.

Well when you actually look at the important rating, the users ratings, it is a lot closer.

I also thought that scorpian king was way better then the HULK, for the same reasons as everyone above, it did not try to take its self serious like the hulk did and it was just a lot of kick ass action, fun adventure movie. The hulk tried to get all series and it really lost at that point. I could watch the scorpion king multiple times because its just a fun popcorn flick, like conan. Its no Award winner, but I like the fun adventure of it.

I've seen Scorpion King and I will say, to my eyes, it got beat by Aeon Flux when I watched it last night.

I haven't seen Hulk yet, so I can't compare there. Aeon was so rich in detail and color. I loved the transfer!

I thought Hulk had a very slight nod over Scorpion King in PQ, but I could watch Scorpion King again...I will not watch Hulk again.

same here, although I think the Mummy ones were a little more fun.... then again they didn't have Kelly Hu....

yes, a really good transfer. I thought The Mummy was also a good transfer, although it doesn't seem to get that degree of respect transfer wise here.

Picture - it is absolutely a fine transfer. Tier 1 in my books. And a fun movie too.

I wouldn't care if the Hulk was the first holographic, 3D, interactive, virtual reality, 100:1 surround sound, weather effects, ground shaking, movie of all time. I still wouldn't want it. It's that bad.

Haven't seen Scorpion King, but it has to be a better movie, even if the picture is not as good.. surely?

my thoughts exactly - i was really surprised how underwhelmed with the PQ I was, but by the end of THE HULK i realized it didn't really matter since i would never want to watch it again anyway.

Dear lord, never mention that scorpion queen movie again. There were two funny lines in that movie and nothing else redeeming.

Horrible!

Movie content aside TSK is a better transfer then TH.
For those who think The Hulk is great I just watched Scooby-Doo and its a better transfer. Eye candy.

Just saw this movie - good example of how a great transfer can make a movie much more watchable. If I ever got bored with the movie (and it happened often) I found myself enjoying the details in the background. Reasonably aggresive sound mix as well (aside from the annoying rock guitar!).

I think Corpse Bride is right up there with the best.

SK and Hulk are both very great transfers. Hulk is a clear Tier 0.
But I'm still impressed with Kong. It's the best digital to digital transfer I've seen so far IMHO.

harry potter 4 looks like it could be a contender. very, very nice and so much better than that joke of a region 1 DVD it's not even funny.

Man there is alot of Hulk bashing in here. The movie gets good after the first hour when the Hulk actually shows up. There are no comments on Ant Bully. I must say it is the best as that tier thread indicates.

Kong, Riddick, and Mummy Returns are great transfers as well. All 5 of these movies are what you can use to show off your HD Theater!

These type comments are getting old and add no value to the threads, we know you now hate HD-DVD so please stop trolling these boards.

Since this thread is alive again, I must add that the night scenes on the Scorpion King is what really caught my attention. The scape from the giant ants scene in the desert look amazing as well.

I think screen size is a determining factor in how a movie transfer is perceived. Movies that look amazing in a small screen sometimes don't look so hot on a bigger one, and vice versa.
