So I needed to build a screen for a friend with a week to do and be in time to watch the Buckeyes kill the Gators....I found a supplier for the Wilsonart
after tax the 4x8 was $56.58 ... not bad.
First Mistake it was vertical grade! I thought I was saving money... they would have sold me the general grade for the same. I don't care what anyone says. This stuff is not rigid enough to just be mounted to a frame. It must be laminated to a board.
Second Mistake, I found the above after stapling the FG to a frame.
Third Mistake, I left the whole frame and stapled FG out in the garage overnight over a small puddle of liquid. I didn't think it would do anything to it since it was 1/2 inch above it. Wrong! When I picked it up today I saw some moisture on the back of it. I didn't see anything wrong with the grey side so I didn't think anything about it. I then took all the staples out and continued to glue the FG to a sheet of Lauan to make it more rigid.
Fourth Mistake, the Lauan had a slight bow in it which only got worse when the FG was glued to it.... this probably would have been a none issue after I attached it to the frame.
Fifth Mistake, Others have used this glue.... 3M 80 rubber cement glue. Maybe I didn't spray it on right.... but not only did a whole can not cover both the Lauan and back of the FG (which it should have!), but after 2 hours of cure time (it says 60min on can) the FG pulled right up off of the Lauan.
I pulled it up after noticing a bubble in the FG, which what I believe... is from the moisture that got on to the back of it the night before.
Cost of project....
Wood and supplies
Poly and paint supplies
glue
Laminate
$184.73+ or - $10
gas: $20
A Week worth of time: Priceless
I'm thinking of asking for $300 for the cost of this screen.
I hope this helps others out.
Best wishes

My frame was the one thing that turned out good... it isn't put together here, but you can see the layout.

You can see the bubble in the middle left of the screen (note.. I haven't mounted it to the frame... it is only taped to the back of the frame.)

As you can see the 3M #80 spray did not work! The can says it cover 75sqft.... this job is about 60sqft..... it only cover 3/4.... so either I'm not putting it on right and using to much ( which means this stuff really doesn't work) or I got a take back can and someone used a 1/4 of it before I got to it.
