That's the problem - you should set the brightness on the load screen.

Component looks sharper but too dright. Did you notice your camera is picking up the infra red emitters of the sensor bar?

Are you playing on a HDTV?

I'm curious as to what cables Nintendo is using on their kiosks at the game stores? My guess would be composite because it looks like trash on the Samsung flat panel they are using. I played Zelda and it was way too dark & muddy.

Sure sounds like composite, cuz thats exactly how it looked for me with composite.

150 replys and not one ounce of intelligence among them. I wonder if they asked their parents if they could use the internet? :D

What TV is that? Looks like a Sammy DLP, can you post the model?

Just interested cause I am still tracking down a wii, but have the component cables ready for my HLR 42" DLP.

That screen tells you to adjust the settings on the television. I don't know about you, but my TV settings are global and not independent based upon the input being viewed. I certainly wouldn't want to have to adjust my TV for Zelda and then deal with those settings for everything else shown on the TV or adjust the settings every time I started and ended gameplay.

Yes, unbelievably Nintendo is using composite on some of those setups. I specifically asked an employee at EBGames if the kiosk was setup by EBGames or provided by Nintendo and he said it was by Nintendo. He insisted that that specific kiosk has component videos, but I didn't want to be an ass and doublecheck on his answer. I did take a close peak at a different kiosk and could clearly see that it was not using a component video cable. I was wondering because the Excite Truck demo just looked muddy and bad.

I first noticed this problem with the Gamecube setups in BestBuy because I noticed that the games just seemed to look dark and terrible. Later I connected a second Gamecube to my HDTV and wondered by the video looked so bad. I suddenly realized that it looked identical to the ones in the BestBuy! The reason it looked so bad was that it was forced to use the composite cable connection because it was one of the new and crippled GCN units. I used splitscreen and compared my component video to the identical game running on componsite and the difference was huge (as big as the above snapshots)

I can understand Nintendo's decision to take a pass on HD this time around, but SHEESH! They could at least make sure their demo units look as good as possible! Even McDonalds does that!
