Yes, with the gamecube controller. When you put a GC game in your Wii it basically turns the Wii into a GC, so you do not have access to any of the Wiimote's functions.

Not possible. Wii version is only playable with Wii controller.
Cube version is only playable with cube controller.

I was hoping to just get the Wii version and tryout both controller options to see which one I like better.

Also, the GC version played on Wii won't support widescreen.
