Todays Sears ad has 2 Universal DVDs for $15 with the Friday Night Lights HD-DVD pictured. Reg 9.99 - 11.99, Additional titles available. Will they honor that price and/or have other HD-DVDs for the same price?

I bet the picture is a mistake and it should have been the SD-DVD pic. You may have some luck talking to a manager if the HD-DVD is available at Sears. Everything in the ad says DVD and these sales happen all the time. They always go by the scan code and it ringing up discounted.

I was able to get Happy Gilmore, Friday Night Lights, The Rundown, and Pitch Black HD-DVD's for $7.50 each from my Sears. They rang up as $22.50, but the salesman price adjusted beacause of the ad. I tried to get a pricematch at Best Buy because they have a lot more titles to choose from. They would only pricematch the titles listed in the Sears ad. I suspect this is a YMMV, and I must have gotten lucky.

The Utah Sears ad has no DVD sale of any kind.

The Utah Sears ad has no DVD sale of any kind.

Mine does (Layton, Utah). Look on page 6 on the left hand column toward the bottom. "2 for $15" It shows an HD DVD there.

Hmm so instead of forcing you to buy one SD-DVD and FNL HD DVD, they will allow buying FNL for 7.50...might have to visit sears today!

Just called my local Sears. Didn't have Friday Night Lights in stock (or so he said), and also that it was a misprint and wouldn't be honored.

I got FNL for $7.50. I did have to buy a SD dvd for $7.50 in addition.

My thanks to the thread originator. :)

finding a hd dvd movie selection at sears will be a luck of the draw find. It all depends on the store volume and market size to whether or not they carry hd dvd's.

It certainly seems that way. I really didn't have any problem getting them to sell me the HD-DVD's at that price. It may have been because I was the first one to buy any HD-DVD or Blu-Ray movie from that Sears since the formats came out.

Went to two Sears in So. Cal tonight...first didn't have any HD-DVDs, second one had 5 BDs and when I asked about HD-DVDs they said they may have *one* and that I would have to play where's waldo to find it because its scattered somewhere. Fantastic.

Went to CC to see if I could get a PM...surprised to find Casino there, but alas no FNL. I did notice that they had many more BDs than HD-DVDs.

Thanks. I see it now. Funny how I noticed the xbox at the top and didn't see the dvds below.

I went to Sears and they would not honor the ad. They told me it was a mistake and would not give me FNL HD for that price. I wound up going to BB and PMed it. I also got Happy Gilmore HD for $7.50 as well.

Went to BB for the price match...the clerk says "wait a minute, this one is different (FNL)...this is a blu ray".

God how I love BB employees.

Got FNL HDDVD and Happy Gilmore DVD for $15.

One thing I'm curious about, is FNL HDDVD worth $7.50? I haven't seen the movie before.

Tried doing a price match at Best Buy today. It was a no-go. They always call the competitor store to make sure they have it in stock, and were unable to get the salespeople (if any) in the electronics dept. at Sears to answer the phone after several attempts. May try Circuit City tomorrow if I'm in the area.
