Nice surprise!

I wonder which technology this is based on? Gennum? Algolith? Or something else?

FWIW, the Flea-HDMI costs 999 USD, too, I believe. It has only 2 HDMI inputs, though.

Hey - Madshi - now you can have afford to have one doing NR on the input and one doing DE on the output :D
(I remember you mentioning that you would like 2 mosquitos but for the price)

So is anyone going to see Elixio at CES?

Yes - I was hoping this would prod some folks out of the woodwork to comment on it since it's now announced. IMHO mosquito noise and block artifacts are here to stay in todays compressed channels world. We need good tools to reduce them and competion is always a good thing.

sounds very similar to the Algolith product. Could it be that they are working together on this one?

I don't know of anyone who does MNR and BAR.

Would love to take a look at this myself and compare with the mosquito.

The latest Gennum chip (due out early this year) does both MNR and BAR at both SD and HD.

The answer here is no!

There are two versions of the Elixio and from I can gather the features of the two models map almost identically to the Flea and Mosquito right down to the split screen mode!

Note the key terms in the press release "From $999" and "Up to 4 HDMI". Your $999 gets you the two HDMI version which is thus more expensive than the Flea!

It will be very interesting to see how the devices compare in raw performance.

This is not a good sign in my estimation. PM needs to get their outstanding issues including extremely limited AR controls, media player capabilities, and HDMI compatibility issues with the CII fixed before they dilute their resources on developing and releasing new products.

We CII users are still waiting for the CII to deliver on all it's promised capabilities and reliability.

Add a blending function and this will be a killer in the CRT world.

This product looks identical to Algolith's stuff; the marketing material has an eerily similar 'feel' to it... Looking at Algolith's website, I would suspect that they're now concentrating more on the broadcast/post-production side of the business and possibly trying to get OEM deals for Home-Theater. It would make sense for them to leave the more cut-throat and demanding HT business for something more lucrative.

I'm pretty sure "elixio" is a repackaged mosquito/flea. Just a hunch really.
