Wrager 01-07-07, 05:14 PM Sounds truely excellent! What's your pleasure? I like the really petey malts from Islay. Lagavulin is my fav (I used to work for Diageo). ybsane 01-07-07, 05:35 PM Macallan, anything from the Highland. Bulldogger 01-08-07, 06:27 AM Ahhhh, my kind of guy. Balvenie single barrel if my favorite. If I want to switch up I buy the double barrel. Balvenie is not ultra expensive, about 50.00 a bottle, but very high quality. Mardi Gras has offically started in New Orleans. Now we have 40 days of celebrating and drinking which will be Scotch for me. I bumped into a plastic surgeon a few years back in a bar. He told me that his business goes up by 1/3 the months right before Mardi Gras! Seems like a lot of his work gets displayed then. Saints are in the playoffs with the first ever home game next Sat. and Mardi Gras has started. If the Saints win Sat. I expect to be able to take some great pictures ;) I need to buy one of those Fuji F30 cameras which can take pictures in low light without a flash. Screen shots and well other shots too. Need to get one before Sat. sierraalphahotel 01-08-07, 07:08 AM Wife and kids are gone for the weekend, I hit the ABC for some good Scotch, already had the cigars and playoffs on the projector, just a fine day so far. Far be it from me to be a killjoy but I assume for the record that either the Scotch, cigars or projector cost in excess of $20,000? :) Bulldogger 01-08-07, 07:48 AM Well you are a killjoy. mike lavigne 01-08-07, 08:44 AM i think the whole idea here is that..... "we party like it's 1999". in other words; your refreshments or party accompanyments don't need to be expensive but should be satsfying and memorable. to some that may be moonshine......others might need to travel (or take thier mega-yacht) to the south of France to get that feeling. it's personal. i'll second Lagavulin as my single malt of choice........the music never sounded so good......and the musical choices soooo perfect. personally; intentionally ingesting smoke into my lungs will never be a choice (and was never :p ).....even second hand....but what adults do in the sanctity of their home is their own business. over $20k isn't about money but appreciating those special things in life.....both big and small. btw; somehow the Seahawks are still playing.....in Chicago this weekend. after God took away the Super Bowl last year i think we must be cashing in a few chips......i just hope we have a few left for Chicago and then New Orleans. in any case we are playing with house money thanks to Romo. sierraalphahotel 01-08-07, 09:50 AM Well you are a killjoy. I think I should have attached a  rather than a :) to my post. It was not my intention to spoil the mood but I suppose the damage is done. Oh what a torture it is to be misunderstood :o . I myself am enjoying a cup of tea and a biscuit while watching the BDO World Darts on my plasma. I tend to avoid Scotch these days, it angries up the blood!! Curt Palme 01-08-07, 09:52 AM Go Seahawks! Bulldogger 01-15-07, 09:40 AM Those damn Seahawks! Messed up my partying and future plans for some more with a second home play-off game now out of the picture. Curt you jinked them!:D Now how the hell am I going to get pics of the girl who only had panties on and her whole body painted black and gold and otherwise completely nude now? Jonomega 01-15-07, 09:58 AM Macallan, anything from the Highland. Macallan is a Speyside. I love Speyside scotch :) Edit: I guess technically, Speyside is a region of Highlands. Macallan has always been too pricy in my area :( I've "settled" for Glenlivet which is pretty good (12, 15, 18 yr - I haven't tried the top stuff). Glenfiddich is also good, but right now, doesnt fancy me as much as 'livet does. Bulldogger 01-15-07, 10:01 AM i'll pick up the Macallan today. Do you know of any other Speyside Scotches to try? BobDole 01-15-07, 11:30 AM Longmorn 15 year old is an excellent Highland Scotch and is quite affordable (~$60) Esox50 01-17-07, 11:36 PM i'll pick up the Macallan today. Do you know of any other Speyside Scotches to try? Cragganmore is a Speyside and has a nice 12YO. Even better, if you can get your hands on the 1984 Distiller's Edition of Cragganmore, do so. The Distiller's Editions from 1987 and I think it's 1991 cannot compare IMHO to the 1984. For those of you who like Highlands, try the Edradour 10YO. I was at a tasting a month ago and this was a good one. Bought a bottle. For those of you who like Laphroaig, try the Signatory Vintage 1999 Laproaig UN-CHILLFILTERED. I was was skeptical at first, but this is a good one. See if you can find bottles from cask 2755. :D All of the above are reasonably priced. Esox50 01-17-07, 11:39 PM Don't get me started on cigars. :) I'm currently working on a box of Bolivar Belicoso Fino (SEP01-OSU for those who know). PointSource 01-18-07, 10:58 PM I smoke Padron cigars and drink a reasonable amount of scotch. I have probably around 25 bottles. My favorites are Lagavulin 16, Laphroaig 10, Ardbeg 10, Talisker10, Macallan 10-18, Macallan Cask Strength, Glenmorangie 10-18 (port wood finish), glenfiddich 15 and 18, aberlour a'bunadh......and Johnnie Walker Gold ( I have all 5 labels). :) Bulldogger 01-19-07, 05:54 PM Cragganmore is a Speyside and has a nice 12YO. Biggest game in the history of the franchise. I hope it's a blow out either way. I do not know if my heart can take a last minute win by either team:D. One of the networks should do a fly over of New Orleans during the game. I'll beat there is almost no traffic on the highways when the game starts. There is actually talk of closing the city down Monday, if the Saints win. Party at my house! Dizzman 01-19-07, 08:43 PM i did a blind tasting when visiting bushmills a few years back and found that i prefer the irish whiskey. I have a 25 YO single malt bushmills that is spectacular. And i highly reccommend a visit to the whiskey country in scotland. I was there a year and a half ago. it is like visiting a wine region. something new and fantastic around every corner. And the hotels have loads of hooch you have never heard of. Bulldogger 01-19-07, 09:57 PM i And the hotels have loads of hooch you have never heard of. Well I know about homemade hooch being from a small town :) . My uncle called a few days to let me know that the muscadine wine was ready and to ask how many gallons I wanted. I have 5 for the game. I have "turned out" my wife's uppity family and have beenl getting them drunk on the wine. They love the stuff. I am going to have to hide a gallon or two to keep them from drinking it all up. Muscadines are a wild grape native to the U.S. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscadine Dizzman 01-19-07, 10:14 PM i was being flip about the extremely good scotch that we have never heard of, but i am sure there is plenty of that as well. Star56 01-19-07, 10:38 PM Hmmm...what should I drink to celebrate the Patriots return to the Superbowl???? Jeffmac 01-20-07, 12:02 AM Well I know about homemade hooch being from a small town :) . Leave it to the good old south to keep up the tradition. BobDole 01-20-07, 11:50 AM Hmmm...what should I drink to celebrate the Patriots return to the Superbowl???? I'll probably be drinking Macallan 18. Esox50 01-20-07, 01:50 PM I'll probably be drinking Macallan 18. I'm hoping for a rematch of SuperBowl 20!!! Though if it came to that I highly doubt it would be a blowout in the Bears favor again. The Patriots are really good, and are the closest thing to a dynasty there is in the NFL salary cap era. Bulldogger 01-21-07, 04:13 AM I want to see the Colts vs the Saints. That would be quite a dilemma for the Manning family. Payton is well respected and loved in New Orleans. If he beat the Saints in a Superbowl after the Saints waiting so long, I do not know if he could ever come home again:D Saints hype has gotten so incredible that I am getting a little cautious now. My home town does not really think much of New Orleans and has never liked the Saints. At times when I go home, I am seriously asked," How can you live in a city where they murder someone almost everyday?" Crime is so low in my home town that when I was growing up I could tell you where to find the keys to almost anyone's car, under the driver's side floor mat. I am 41 so that was not too long ago. Now even my home town is caught up in the hoopla. Imagine the shock I felt when my 80 year old grandmother who knows little about football asked for a Saints jersey?! "Reggie Bush, makes sure to get number 25, Reggie Bush." :D lostsoldier 01-21-07, 04:31 AM I drink anything with "glen" in the name. :D Single Malt: Glenburgie Glen Deveron Glendronach Glendullan Glen Elgin Glenfarclas Glenfiddich Glen Garioch Glengoyne Glen Grant Glen Keith Glenkinchie Glenlivet Glenlossie Glenmorangie Glen Moray Glen Ord Glenrothes Glentauchers Glenturret Glen Scotia My standards for Scotch aren't very high ;) Pure Malts: Glencoe Blended: Glen Alba Esox50 01-21-07, 11:25 AM We got 2" of snow and 30 degrees here for the NFC Championship. :D The snow has subsided, but the forecast is for a little more later this afternoon. Good luck to those of you who are rooting for the Saints. May the best team win, and hopefully the game will at least be entertaining and not a blowout either way. :D I'm breaking into a fresh box of Ramon Allones Gigantes (LLN JUN02). Gotta save the Cohiba Esplendidos (MKO DIC03) for the Superbowl, if the Bears get there. ;) Of course, my greatest fear is that I'll be dead and never get to smoke the special box I have set aside for the Cubs' World Series run!!! They might be so aged by then that they'll be like a compost heap. :D :D Bulldogger 01-21-07, 12:23 PM I'm hoping for snow. Confucius says that in a chase between a bear and a rabbit on snow, the rabbit, Reggie Bush, has the advantage.:) It is warm down here. I am wearing shorts today. Good luck to the Bears and may which ever is the better team win. It is going to be a great game. Bulldogger 01-21-07, 04:53 PM Wow, Bears defense is something else. You guys deserve a better quater back with that defense. Nail bitter for me. Back to the game. Bulldogger 01-21-07, 05:48 PM Great game Chicago. Oh man, now I need some Scotch! 11 mins left but it's over. Bulldogger 01-21-07, 06:24 PM Oh somebody get me some more Scotch PLEZZZE. I think I am going to be looking for the pistol if the Patriots win too:D. My friend called to say,"now you know how Dallas feels." Hey the Bears did the deal. More power to them. ybsane 01-21-07, 06:55 PM Bulldogger, if it goes with the Bears and Patriots, it will be a boring Superbowl. Good day anyway for drinking and cigars, feed animals, send wife and kids out, relax and enjoy! Bulldogger 01-21-07, 06:59 PM It is truly a beautiful evening. My wife's family is over and it is raining. Days like this make a home theater the best place to be. I think I will fire up one of those Cohibas. Esox50 01-21-07, 11:20 PM Bulldogger, WHEW!!! Good game. I was seriously worried around the middle of the 3rd Quarter. That safety was a huge turning point in the game. One thing they are saying all over the radio here was that some of the Bears defensive players were upset with Reggie Bush's hotdogging on the way into the end-zone, and they cranked it up a notch after that. Now, I've never bought into these "motivation" things since I think the guys should be going 110% all of the time, but wow. That was the Bear defense from around mid-October. I'm glad Indianapolis made it, as I think the Bears match up better against them than the Pats. In any event...congratulations on a great season by the Saints. It's quite amazing when you think how quickly they turned it around from a year ago. Sean's a great coach. They added a top QB in Brees, added Bush in the draft (how idiotic is the Texans' mgmt?), got a diamond in the rough in the draft in Colston, got a healthy Deuce back from ACL (who should be even better next year as it usually takes ~ 2yrs to get 100%). Wow. I really think they got the pieces in place to be a good team for another 4-5 years and should certainly be one of the top teams in the NFC again next year. Two great games. What an awesome day for football fans everywhere. Bulldogger 01-22-07, 09:28 AM Yes, I am happy with the match-up. Should be a great game. We have a lot of rookies. Taunting the defense was a rookie move. I am sure Sean chewed him out about that. I like the Bears and the Colts. Looking forward to the game! To expect to go from 3 and 13 to the Superbowl was a bit much. My wife kicked me out of the bed for saying that:D.Boy are they some die-hard Saints fans. My mother-in-law and my wife's aunt have had season tickets on the 50 yard line, row 3 off the field for about 15 years. If you want to watch anything on TV at my house besides the playoff, you better forget it. My wife is not having it. She stays glued to the screen for all the playoff games. It's hard living with her right now:). FrantzM 01-22-07, 07:34 PM Hi Yesterday was football at its best: 2 great games.. I was pulling for the Saints, knowing for well they would not beat the Bears, would have been a great day for New Orleans... I like the Colts vs Bears matchup... Could be one of the best Superbowl ever... Colts may win it.. The look good and have the tools to derail the Bears defense... Esox50 01-22-07, 08:03 PM Hi Yesterday was football at its best: 2 great games.. Could be one of the best Superbowl ever... Colts may win it.. The look good and have the tools to derail the Bears defense... To me, the superbowl is going to come down to one thing, and that is can the Colts defense stop the Bears running attack. The Bears have mastered the use of their two pronged running attack with Jones and Benson. We have just about run on everybody since our bye-week. If the Bears control the clock and run on the Colts, then Manning and all of his weapons won't be on the field much, and the Bears defense is built to play from ahead. I do agree that this looks to be a great matchup on paper. I cannot wait. Been 21 years since a Superbow... archiguy 01-25-07, 09:49 AM I drink anything with "glen" in the name. :D Single Malt: Glenburgie Glen Deveron Glendronach Glendullan Glen Elgin Glenfarclas Glenfiddich Glen Garioch Glengoyne Glen Grant Glen Keith Glenkinchie Glenlivet Glenlossie Glenmorangie Glen Moray Glen Ord Glenrothes Glentauchers Glenturret Glen Scotia My standards for Scotch aren't very high ;) Pure Malts: Glencoe Blended: Glen Alba And your favorite movie is..... wait for it.....
