View Full Version : Component cables...Best 25$ I've spent on the Wii

Seriously, not much more to say here. I have been running via composite through DScaler (which does a very good job of course) but have had issues with contrast, color, brightness etc. I'm sure with much tweaking at the scaler, I could have made it look better but still not great. I'm running on a 119" diagonal FP setup so scaling really is pretty important here! I swung by BB today (and I still feel dirty) and grabbed some component cables. Made me laugh to see that they were sold out of the 60$ cables. I grabbed the $25 cables because it's what they had. I would never have spent $60 on them so IMO, I lucked out. There was also a $20 set there. No idea what the difference was but I believe it was only 6'.
Anyway, HUGE improvement. Contrast and color are so much better. Progressive native is of course good as well. Yeah it's jaggy to some extent but still...SOOOOO much better. If you're on the fence as to whether it's worth it to go component and you have a digital display....Just go do it. Really.

Also just picked up the $25 React components from BestBuy yesterday. Haven't really gotten to play it yet, but did notice some improvement on the Wii Menu.

$15 shipped from PlayAsia.com for me and easily the best $15 I ever spent!!
I almost forgot to switch to 480p in the Wii settings though. Glad I did though :)

How about component through dscaler? removing all that visible jaggy would be nice. There may not be a solution though on this low res.
