If you have the same or similar setup what are you using for your picture settings? Thanks in advance

I am using settings from D-Nice on my 5070. You can find the thread in the Plasma section of avs. He has break in settings as well as other settings for sat/cable box and dvd players among other things. Looks great to me.

I think the thread is titled "D-Nice Break in Settings" or something. Usually on the first page or two.

I think the game mode makes the picture quality worse and decreases brightness so I use the settings for the Toshiba HD DVD which I also have. As long as you are careful I don't think there should be a problem with burn in but no promises. I don't game for more than a few hours at a time so I don't worry about it.

Thanks! I've been using D-Nice's settings for break in and everything is great. Do you find that the Toshiba settings work well for the Ps3?

Yeah, I like them but I'm no expert or anything. I played around a bit with other settings, but I didn't find anything I liked that much better. I have had some other great tv's, but this one is so much better. Once you know how good games can look, you will really notice the difference when you take your ps3 to someone elses house even if they have a pretty good tv.

Make sure that you get some hd programming for it too. I am watching Discovery HD right now and it is mind blowing. Blue ray also looks great with the Tosh hd dvd settings. Ice Age: The Meltdown is highly recommended. Check the master PQ tier list in the blue ray software section of avs. It's a sticky.

Jedi,

Do you also use the PS3 for standard dvd playback? If so, how do the D-Nice Toshiba settings look for standard playback?

No, I use my Tosh XA1 because it has one of the best upscalers out there. In fact, I have not even used a standard def. dvd in my ps3 yet. According to the experts on this set in the official 5070 thread the upscaler in the 5070 is so good that only the very best upscaling dvd players can match it. So if you believe them, then you shouldn't even need an upscaling player (and the ps3 does not upscale I understand). But I have tried to play dvd's in my 360 thru component cables (which does not upscale unless you have vga cables I think), and I think the Tosh XA1 looks better.

So I can't exactly answer your question, but I still use the same settings for sd dvd playback (just not thru the ps3) and I think they look great.
