I had suspected that my SA8300 was losing recordings occasionally but
could not be sure whether it was the box or my memory but the problem
was confirmed when I had two recordings of "Monk" on it and watched one
and found that the second was missing the next day when I went to watch
it.

I had a TW technician out and the best he could come up with was to
reformat the drives. So now we start from scratch with clean drives. To
check things out, I put about 30+ hours of HD movies on the drives so I
am pretty sure it was recording on both drives. I checked some
recordings at random and it appears that the box was working well. Then
I deleted all the movies to start abain with empty drives.

This morning I had the box set to record "Meet the Press" and I saw the
record light on at the appropriate time. When I went to view the show
it was not on the recorded list. When this happened there were only
three other recordings on the drives.

Has anyone else had a problem with lost recordings? If so, how did you
resolve it? TW's telephone reps seem clueless.

My setup is the TW8300 with a 300 GB external SATA HD. TW Rochester, NY.

I am now keeping a log but don't trust the PVR. I'd replace the box but
the TW techs tell me that they don't have any 8300's with HDMI
interfaces and would have to give me an 8000 as a replacement.

Help appreciated.

Thanks in advance - Joel

had a similar situation happen to me. I picked csi miami from my list and hit the play button.Nothing showed up except a blank screen.since it wasnt really there i deleted it from the recorded list, but it would not delete. exited it out and tried to play and delete it 2 more times--same result. I then decided to watch another recorded show and after that i saw that csi miami was still there so i hit play on it and it started playing. about halfway thru i wanted to watch the president so i hit live tv, after watching the presidents speech csi was no longer there...whats up with that
