Just bougth The Beatles Love deluxe CD/DVD-A last night. The CD disc does not have any problem. The DVD-A disc freezes up at the end of Back To The U.S.S.R. and will not play the next song which is While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The only way I can get WMGGW to play is to use the right arrow on the player to forward to that song. Also I cannot play the DTS tracks on this disc. I have 2 palyers both capable of playing DVD-As (Samsung DVD-HD950 and Azur 540D). Both players show DTS DVD on the LCD screen but no sound comes out. The two problems I described here happen to both players. To verify that the hook up is correct on both players, I put the Hell Freezes Over DTS disc in both players and they play just fine.

Only fault on the DVD-A is the freeze up going to WMGGW, because that is the layer change on the DVD-A. I have to hit the forward skip on my Samsung DVD player to advance it. DTS soundtrack would be in the DVD-V section of the disc which contains also Dolby Digital for DVD Video only plauers.

Same for me on the Samsung HD841. Annoying but I can live with it. But it's the first time I have encountered a layer change problem on a DVD with that player.

No problems playing "Love" on my DVD-HD950. Is the "Hell Freezes Over" DTS disc, a DVD-A, if not, I am not sure comparing how your player plays it to the "Love" DVD-A means much. I have the "Hell Freezes Over" DVD-V and it plays fine also but it isn't a DVD-A. The DVD-HD950 does not have a DTS decoder so playing DTS audio over the analog connection will not result in anything but silence with any DVD. I seem to recall there was a "Hell Freezes Over" DTS CD, but in any event any DTS audio requires a separate decoder when using the HD950.

Yes, the Hell Freezes Over I have is a DTS CD. The HD950 does have a DTS decoder. You can see it right below the CD tray, it says SACD, Dolby Digital, DTS, HDMI, AnyNet.

I have problem with layer change with many DVD movies on the HD950. It's very annoying. I think I also have problem playing Fleetwood Mac Rumours DVD-A on this player, too.

Maybe I'm missing something. How do you get to the DVD-V section of the disc?. The disc menu on both my players only show Play All and Track Selection choices. There is no Set Up or DTS or anything like that. Also, if I understood correctly, this disc also contains video material of some source, right? If so, how do you get to it. I have the Robert Cray's Time Will Tell and Foreigner DVD-A which contains some video materials and I don't have any problem viewing them on both players. But I have no clue how to access the video on Love if there's such thing.

Chris, I forgot to mention that I also plugged in the optical cable in order to try the DTS tracks but there is no sound comes out, even though the LCD window on both players show DTS DVD.

Love contains no video content at all. It is purely an audio disk. The authoring is such that if you're player defaults to the DVD-A portion, you will not see the DTS options.

If you really want to access the lower-rez portions of the disk (Although, I don't know why you would.) You need to change the settings in your player to default to DVD-video instead of DVD-Audio when both are present.

I can say with absolute certainty that the DVD-HD950 does not have a DTS decoder. It will pass DTS audio over the digital audio output for decoding by an external decoder.

Thanks for clearing this up. Mainly I was trying to access the video content of this disc due to my misunderstanding.
