Finally, after many moons, the drywalling is done. I'm struggling with colors for the room. I have attached photos if it'll help, but basically, a 16 X 17' room with a vaulted ceiling and soffits all the way around. Will have a projector installed eventually, but going to go with my old stuff right now. So, I know I need a flat paint type, no glossy or satin, but that's about it, so call it a blank slate...any ideas appreciated!

More background, screen will go straight on the wall, not going to have a stage built in, though will be using a riser. Back part of the room will have a wet bar and counters and a desk space installed....

Photo 1 - front of the room, give you an idea of my soffits...
Photo 2 - back corner of room
Photo 3 - back center of room, guys did an awesome job figuring out this space, might have a neat place to put a projector!

Color is a matter of personal preference and although we might give you an idea it ultimately falls on what you like. You need to take into consideration your decor, and come up with colors that compliment it.

Is the room a dedicated HT space ? It just seems more like a multi-use room. Stay away from white, pink, bright green or black (boring and blah).
Red or maroon would be nice. Blue, purple.....Make a choice any choice, just make sure YOU like it.

Nice job on the drywall/mudding. It IS tough to pick out colors. You don't want to have to go back and paint it again because the color just doesn't work. As ifeliciano said, just pick out what works for you. While the general thinking is dark colors work better to reduce glare and reflection, it basically comes down to the ultimate use for the room. I used an oatmeal or goldenrod shade in my theater with a flat black ceiling. The walls are an eggshell finish. I'm lucky and don't have any windows in that room, and the light wall color is not a problem as far as glare goes. If you're going to use it exclusively as a theater, or maybe a multi-purpose room for entertaining also, that needs to be taken into consideration.

I like your idea of dark brown that's part of my planned scheme; think dark chocolate, with steel blue accents. Paint a 3' square sample patch on the wall and use a single accent light to see if it works for you. If this puts you in the mood, you've picked the right color.
