View Full Version : PS3 playing PS2 games-Which ones look the best?
I would like to start a list of PS2 games that look the best on the PS3...as we all know by now, the backwards compatability PQ is an issue as well as lack of games for the PS3. So post the PS2 games you have tried and played on the PS3 and if possible post a SS.
My son has played Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire for PS2 on my PS3....game does not look too good...there is an inch or 2 on each side of the game. He also has Lefo's Star Wars Trilogy....on the xbox game looked fantastic for the PS2 on the PS3 it looks like garbage all kinds of jaggies and blurriness. I would like to know if anyone has played the PS2 games "24" and GTA on the PS3 and what the PQ is like....

Not sure exactly what the problem is with the PS3 and 480i games, maybe someone here can explain it in technical detail, but they look terrible. 480p games like the ones in the link look great, well, as great as a PS2 game can look anyway.
I've been playing Katamari Damacy (480i) and God of War (480p) on my PS3 lately and I'm having a blast (I never owned a PS2). What it boils down to is how much graphics matter to you personally.

and question, in the game you use the rumble on the controller to do things like mug people, steal car stereos, how would that work without?
thanks
:)
Mongoos150 01-08-07, 01:32 AM It blows my mind FFXII isn't in 480p...
BikerTrashXB 01-08-07, 09:41 AM I tried Killzone in my PS3 a few days ago, and it looked like crap, so I thought maybe all PS2 games would. Then I read this post. I better try out my other games.

I think there a controller display on the screen during those scenes that tells you when you've hit the pressure point.
God Of War, GT4, Shadow Of Colossus, Tekken 5 all look very good on my Samsung 5087.
SOCOM 3 looks good, but is very playable.
JackBau3r 01-09-07, 01:38 PM ^^Yeah. Same here. The only way you're going to get your PS2 games looking good on your PS3 and even an HDTV for that matter is 480p games. Thank god God of War 2 will be 480p.
Stories 01-09-07, 01:42 PM Did anyone else hope for the possibility of FSAA and AF for PS2 games on the PS3 hardware? Or was I the only one? I don't see why it can't be done because for PCs it was a simple programming issue once the hardware was capable enough. Oh welll.
JackBau3r 01-09-07, 01:45 PM Sony did say awhile back that they were going to do something special with BC and PS2/PS1 games. I'm hoping for an update sometime in the future that would fix the problem. Maybe smooth out the textures.
tingham 01-09-07, 03:26 PM Rocket Power( Beach Bandits) HA HA!!- for my little 5 year old looks good. I believe it is 480p.
Deinonych 01-09-07, 07:09 PM Burnout: Revenge looks mighty good on the PS3. :)
eimajnacnud 01-09-07, 07:29 PM How about gt4 and Tourist Trophy in 1080i?
GT4 does work in 1080i and looks great.
Other games that look fine, at least as good as they did on the PS2:
GTA:Vice City & San Andreas
Psychonauts
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance
um, EA Baseball, 2005 I think...

That's good news! How long ago did they say this, and do you remember where you read it?
