Anyone played gamecube on a projector, or any large screen? If so, were you able to get a decent picture, and did investing in component cables make a difference?
I'm rather disappointed right now, because the quality is so much worse than my 27 inch CRT T.V. yet standard def. DVD's look absolutely stunning. Since component cables are so hard to find, I'm not sure if they are worth the investment. I may just play the cube on the tube, but I really was looking forward to the 60+ inch PJ screen.

I play GC on my 60" SXRD and it's fine for me. I'm not very picky but I enjoy it and none of my friends have ever complained. It's not the greatest picture compared to the new-gen consoles, but then again we're talking about Gamecube.
EDIT: I forgot to mention I use the regular composite cables. I've never upgraded them so I don't know how much of a difference it would make, but I'm assuming it would be worth it for some people.
You can get the component cables on eBay all day long. I just picked up a set yesterday.

Seems like those are >$50- I'd rather just wait, deal with it for a while, and eventually (if I choose) buy a wii. I probably won't be playing gamecube a ton, so that much money just isn't worth it to me.

I'm in the same boat. I don't play Gamecube enough to justify buying anything else for it but would certainly upgrade to component cables for the Wii when I was ready to buy one.

I've been playing the Gamecube through component cables for 1+ years using an Optoma H31 at about 75" diagonal. I've also tried the composite (yellow) video connection as well. In my opinion, I would rate the composite yellow cable connection a 5 out of 10. The component video connection with a NON progressive scan game is a little better at about a 7 out of 10. However, when you use component cables with a progressive scan game (such as the new zelda) I would rate picture quality at a 9+ out of 10. The picture is sharper, more detailed, and vibrant when compared to the other connection methods in my opinion. The biggest difference will be noticed if you enable a progressive scan compatible game. Otherwise, component vs. composite isn't really that much of an issue..Hope this helps :) :)

I've played both the Gamecube and the Wii (via their respective component cables) on my BenQ PE7700 at 135".
Not earth shattering but very, very, very playable.
I've played GameCube, Wii, and PS2 games (emulated through the PS3) on my 100" screen lit by a Mitsubishi HC3100.
My biggest issue is I wish I got a High Contrast Da-Mat instead of the High Contrast Cinemavision. (the HCCV screen doesn't disappear well at close viewing distances - especially noticeable in foggy scenes).
My next biggest issue is that even with 720p, I can still just barely see screen door. But I sit "too close" at less than 1 screen width.
The jaggies and such present in PS2, GameCube, and Wii games is a minor issue that you get used to.
The component cables are definitely a huge, humongous, ginormous improvement over the craposite cables.
If anyone does decide to purchase the component cables for the Gamecube, make sure you have a digital port first. It was removed from consoles made after May 2004.

Yes I do- I just need to find the cables for less than the cost of the game!
Thanks though
