Blood Diamond and The Departed.
Awesome.
haulin oats 01-08-07, 01:56 AM I'm gonna be spending too much this year!
time to get a job :)
kiddsilk69 01-08-07, 02:08 AM Blood was really good.
Just give us the Matrix Trilogy in Dolby TrueHD with IME!!!!
Excellent news. The Departed, Matrix (all), Harry Potter (all), Oceans 11/12... excellent movie releases. I'm really looking forward to these.
Its nice to see a flurry of good news for HD-DVD now that CES is underway. Hopefully it just keeps on rolling. In the week leading up to CES, we saw quite enough "sky is falling" posts to last a lifetime.
oh_riginal 01-08-07, 03:26 AM Ah, The Departed will fit nicely next to my Goodfellas and Casino HD-DVDs. Wouldn't mind filling out a bit more of the HD-DVD Scorcese collection down the road, if possible. The Matrix movies will predictably look awesome in HD, though I still have yet to finish the special features of the Matrix Ultimate Collection from a few years back!
WirelessGuru 01-08-07, 03:50 AM :) HappY FeeT :)
 BuLLiTT
oh_riginal 01-08-07, 04:00 AM I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to seeing the new Battlestar Galactica released on HD-DVD!! Not to mention Blade Runner. I hope it includes all the versions and features announced for the multi-disc "final cut" edition coming out on SD-DVD soon. If Blade Runner turns out to be just an HD upgrade of the current release, I will be disappointed, as it would be nice to own ALL the versions in HD.

Yep. Really looking for this one too.

Y'know Warner has done so many things consistently well, that I would have thought there was no chance of BR not being a deluxe multi disc set- that is until I saw how they 'cut to fit' the first Superman movie, left off the original theatrical cut (with original audio) and never included any of the new SE material like the vintage making of special and the Fleischer shorts.
I was disappointed in how perfunctory the release was.
I hope we get multi cuts of BR too, but the precendent so far isn't very encouraging.

if anything, I'm actually more concerned now. Only one of the titles mentioned was a surpise and not something fully expected because it is a new D&D release, or mentioned for the last 8 months on various MSFT, or TLASOP lists.
I would have thought that Universal would have issued a joint release, especially in lieu of Warners adding nothing really new to the mix. And I'll be more worried if the show closes and there is no big promotion from Universal.
I'm not familiar with how CES goes as it progresses, but I would have thought since yesterday was the big HD DVD event, that everything of substance that was going to be said would have been issued there.
Would it be likely that software compaines would be dolling out info all week at a show designed for hardware promotion? does software in general here get promoted heavily on its own?
Yup, as time is going on, there still aren't any titles added with definite dates in the near future. Shouldn't they be announcing the street dates of titles through March by now?

I only hope that a full slate of release dates is their counter to the BD Press Conference.
We know there are titles coming - why not just announce when.

some of these I haven't seen mentioned before
like Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Whatever Happened To Baby Jane.
Did they just update the Look and Sound.... list recently?
I didn't see these on the list I downloaded a couple weeks back.

They were mentioned in the DigitalBits Warner live chats.
And two others are Conan and Brazil, which Canadian resellers have down for Jan 30.
We know the following are coming, just give us dates:
Did you decide to state your wish list as fact?? A lot of those movies have not officially been announced to be released. Lord of the rings has not been officially announced, and it is said that it would be 2008 at the earliest, though I wish it would be before then. Sin city 2, did I fall off the face of the planet when this movie was released in theaters?
CalgaryCowboy 01-08-07, 08:05 AM I have also seen "Singing in the Rain" with no release date in CAnada.

Of course they havent been officially announced. These are titles I have accumulated from industry talks, trailer snippets, brochures and press releases for HD DVD from the publishers, HD DVD group schedule etc.
Its not a wish list (I dont like many of those titles), Ive just been adding ones as soon as I see them mentioned from reputable sources. Im doing the same for Blu-ray.
There is an LOTR snippet thats just been added to thelookandsoundofperfect official site, that was enough for me to add it to my list. Who cares if its coming in 2007 or 2008, it is coming.
No need to get ornery about it.
dwisniski 01-08-07, 08:17 AM I just hope the "coming in 2007" promise isn't the same as the "coming in 2006" promise, because I don't want to have to wait until 2008 to get the 2007 titles. But so far what Warner HAS released has been excellent for the most part. And sooner is always better that later.

Ahaha, I didn't know that there was a snippet of LOTR released, thanks for enlightening me. Sorry if the above post seemed hostile, its just whenever says anything about LOTR, my favorite series, it gets my hopes up. But now a snippet, Im going to check that out :D

Heya Inca, I just checked out the snippet again and Im not sure if its from LOTR. It might be a battle shot from the Scorpion King. Can you cast your expert eye on it and report back, I am more than happy to be corrected on this.
Dr Kain 01-08-07, 08:27 AM The Matrix Trilogy is the one I want most of all. However, what about The Devil's Advocate?
pedra12 01-08-07, 08:28 AM Happy Feet! Cool, we can use some more animated films.

Arggg, no its not from LOTR, I think that its from Troy, but it could be from Scorpion King. But the one thing I did notice was official New Line Cinema support for HD-DVD, which may be old news, but still. :p
Looks like it is going to be a Warner year!
Patrick. 01-08-07, 09:41 AM I'm in as long as it isn't those awful total hd discs. I won't pay for something I'm never going to use/lose disc artwork so warner can save a few pennies pressing discs. If they release HD DVD only versions I'll have no problem picking up quite a few
BOSS10L 01-08-07, 09:47 AM Definitely enticing, but "sometime in 2007" doesn't fill me with a whole lot of hope. The Matrix has been touted on every HD DVD disc since the beginning, and we still don't have a firm date.
However, what about The Devil's Advocate?
I'm pretty sure Warner is not trying to kill HD DVD.
DavidHir 01-08-07, 09:47 AM Good to hear officially ALL of the Harry Potter movies are coming.

And as long as they kill the combo releases on the good stuff so that I don't have to pay more for nothing.
Great.......more promises of titles..........no street dates....................
wow I had no idea the Matrix was coming! *sarcasm*
