RabidRob 01-08-07, 08:55 AM i would like to see a box set that includes an HD DVD version of the Animatrix
jflegert 01-08-07, 08:55 AM 1) A stellar transfer.
2) Dolby True-HD

I just want the movies with pristine transfers and excellent audio, keep all the xtras off the disc if it means better picture and audio. Xtras just really do nothing for me and actually they sometimes ruin the film because I find out that a really excellent scene that seemed incredible was just silly and cheesy to do, then when I watch that part from then on I always remember how cheesy it really was.

I agree...I just want the movie(good transfer) and some good audio. If they really want to do extras, put them on a seperate disk so I can throw it away.

ColinZeal 01-08-07, 09:21 AM Itīs official? Like itīs been since the summer or is there a date now?
GIMME! (or atleast let me pay for it!)
* Dolby TrueHD
* Transfer that beats Hulk/KK
And the extras from the ultimate box whatever itīs called edition
Maestro J 01-08-07, 09:24 AM I love director commentaries so give me one on each movie. Oh....and TrueHD
Adam_ME 01-08-07, 09:26 AM I don't really give a rat's ass about the sequels. As for the first Matrix film, I would like a remastered transfer that looks the way the movie was originally shown in theaters. Not the recolored one that was altered to look like the sequels.
Dolby TrueHD is also a must. And it would be nice to get all the extras from both the original DVD release and the Ultimate Collection. At the very least, give us the isolated score from the first DVD. The teaser and trailer in HD would be a sweet bonus as well.

I hated the colours in the first version, it looked like the CGI colour pallette had messed the photographic pallette up.
Whiggles 01-08-07, 09:39 AM If it's going to be a box set, they should make it a four-disc release, modelled after the most recent DVD versions (the Ultimate Collection, I think): just the films themselves plus their respective commentaries on discs 1-3, then all the extras on the fourth disc (and a fifth if necessary).
I would like the last two movies to be destroyed!
MWAHAHAHAHA
I mean.. i'd like I dunno a commentary or something.
xradman 01-08-07, 09:50 AM Animatrix in HD as an extra would be nice.
AmigoHD 01-08-07, 09:53 AM OAR and TrueHD

Ditto. Just mirror the Ultimate Collection, but make these transfers really pop. The films deserve the best possible picture quality.
On a side note, were the last two Matrix films filmed in HD?
Matt_Stevens 01-08-07, 10:03 AM I really despire RELOADED, but very much enjoy REVOLUTIONS, so I would buy a boxed set, bot only at a very reasonable price.
The original HD transfer for THE MATRIX is superior than the newer one. The newer one is greener (as has been talked about) and has some crushed blacks. So that's not good.

Oooh! Good call, I would love to see this also.
Reloaded is my favourite, the Matrix second, and Revolutions is the worst IMO. I get a bit bored during Revolutions, but it is still up there. The airfighting is too distant most of the time. Needs more close ups, and is not that exciting anyway.

Are you sure the original transfer of the film was HD? I was under the impression the one released with the Ultimate Edition was transferred from HD. In any event, I prefer the newer transfer as it is MUCH better looking. The '99 release was great in its time, but pails to the Ultimate release.
Whiggles 01-08-07, 10:08 AM On a side note, were the last two Matrix films filmed in HD?
No, Super35, same as the first one (and the same as most 2.35:1 films these days).

Thanks. Of course, that won't really have an impact on picture quality, they should still look fantastic.

Super35 should be better than HD if HD is a digital format.
NoThru22 01-08-07, 10:18 AM I'd like to see some of the green toned down from the first Matrix (in the Ultimate set.) Neo's stubble made him look like Kermit the Frog! The transfer on that was fine, it was the color effects they added that made it crappy. I'd like to see some of the scenes from Enter the Matrix edited into Reloaded and also all the scenes from the game available in HD (they weren't even anamorphic on the Ultimate set.)

In any event, I prefer the newer transfer as it is MUCH better looking. The '99 release was great in its time, but pails to the Ultimate release. Of course. Warner was doing HD transfers starting in the mid-90's. Matrix had 2.35:1 and open matted transfer created in 99 and the open matted transfer was shown on HBO. I have it on D-VHS. It looks exceptional and has a lot of detail in blacks that is missing from the newer transfer, featured on the so called SE DVD release. That newer transfer is also greener inside the Matrix.

No biggie, difference of opinion I suppose. I actually like that the film now more resembles the newer movies, but others do disagree.
Matt_Stevens 01-08-07, 10:31 AM Do you like less detail in darker scenes?
AUWingsFan 01-08-07, 10:50 AM Well perhaps I am just dumb.....but I'd like commentaries on all the movies....I seem to remember that one of the newer DVD versions had commentaries with philosophy professors which talked about the various themes in the movies....I'd enjoy that very much for the releases. For me the symbolism and religious/spiritual themes from the first didn't seem to carry through the two sequels as much as I'd hoped...and really weren't as prevalent (to me at least, but it might be because I "don't get it"). I really didn't like the sequels as much as the original, but I'd love to own all 3 in high def and would appreciate if they all had commentaries as mentioned. The lossless audio would be much appreciated! As for other extras besides commentaries....they'd be welcome, but really as has been mentioned I'd really prefer they were on a separate disc to save room for the features.....having said that if they make them separate I'd like all the extras in HD also....... :)
Topweasel 01-08-07, 10:51 AM Super35 should be better than HD if HD is a digital format.
I would question that. I believe that between the two one shot in the resolution displayed would look better. There is no detail to lose no resizing needed. Everything would look just as sharp as it was shot.
GmanAVS 01-08-07, 10:52 AM I have to agree with the majority.....
make the transfer *perfect*
adjust some of the CGI color palette
and make the dojo fight a true eye popping 3D viewing experience
pedra12 01-08-07, 11:04 AM Ditto. Just mirror the Ultimate Collection, but make these transfers really pop. The films deserve the best possible picture quality.
agreed. :)
atagert 01-08-07, 11:27 AM I agree with what I want, quality of movie, but I have a feeling that we'll be getting pip and stuff with it like in Batman Begins.
First it has been advertised as coming soon forever. If they did that, you would expect that they were planning to release it months ago, but decided they wanted to do more and delayed it. The same thing that happened with Batman Begins.
Adam
HD-DVDwonder 01-08-07, 12:54 PM I just want a standalone option for Matrix 1, like they did in Mi: 3

Well I have not been impressed by the films that have used it so far, like Superman Returns, which looks messed up. Having said that.. The Matrix looked messed up before the new version was released.
A ending where Neo and Trinity dont DIE!
CalgaryCowboy 01-08-07, 08:41 PM A box set with a price similiar to the MI set.
ryoohki 01-08-07, 09:01 PM I want 1 and 2, the 3rd i don't care. I liked the 40min long action sequence of the 2nd one with Paul Oakenfold Techno and those 2 'White' guy!..
Sisko197 01-08-07, 11:45 PM Need Release Date.

Well, I'm not sure which lens you're viewing the Matrix trilogy through. That is, which religion's symbols and ideas you're looking for. Ultimately, the Matrix trilogy is based on Vedantic philosophy which is a component of Hinduism. And it's consistent from the first movie to the last. What occurs throughout the movies is a progression of understanding about the nature of reality, so Neo's understanding and purpose changes during the course of the movies until the end.
The Ramayana, the Upanishads, and the Bhagavad-Gita are major sources of inspiration for the Matrix trilogy, though there are other influences such as Gnostic Christianity (which is presented in a compatible and consistent manner with the Hindu philosophy espoused in the trilogy).
In any case, I hope that the movies are released with the best picture and sound that's possible, as I'm a huge fan of this and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I just wish they actually announced a date for when the trilogy will be out.
nick_danger 01-09-07, 12:11 AM I only liked the original Matrix and the Animatrix. Reloaded and Revolutions were crap. PLEASE make them available seperately!
tbass2k 01-09-07, 01:07 AM I don't understand why people hate Reloaded, that has some of the best action I have ever seen in a movie. Now Revolutions, IMO, that was crap. Especially the ending.
I like the whole trilogy. I just want the best transfer possible with Dolby TrueHD tracks.
UxiSXRD 01-09-07, 02:00 AM I'd like some deleted scenes, preferably with seemless branching.
I already have the ultimate DVD set for those extras so give me the best PQ & AQ possible!
Animatrix would be nice, too. I like Reloaded the best, followed very closely by the original with Revolutions a bit behind both but still an enjoyable popcorn action flick.
Hopefully they release these movies seperately, in addition to the more-than-likely boxset.
Since 2 and 3 were such crap, if it's only released as a boxset, I think I'll have to pass, even though I really liked the first one.
A ending where Neo and Trinity dont DIE!
Well, is Neo Dead? He died in the first one as well remember.
I like Reloaded because of the action, and choreography. The whole film is timed to music, even the menu. The 100 Smith fight has every punch, kick, and flight through the air timed to music. The car chase is also well timed to the music, and the buzzing of insect sounds.

Adam_ME 01-09-07, 08:56 AM A ending where Neo and Trinity dont DIE!
How about a version of Matrix Convolutions where Trinity doesn't take 10 minutes to die!!!
kevinlc 01-09-07, 09:03 AM I just want the transfer to be worthy of what HD DVD can do and a TrueHD soundtrack, of course. Special Features are, to me, a very small and optional aspect, but it would be nice to see a robust set of extras. At this point, the films are all that really matter to me.
It would be nice if they did the first movie and sent the other 2 to the compactor never to be seen again! But thats just me.
;)
metalsaber 01-09-07, 03:27 PM How about an ACTUAL release date.
Not to mention release dates for the other supposed 300 movies coming out.
jasonAB 01-09-07, 04:32 PM Here's a good link http://wylfing.net/essays/index.html (Here's a good link) that talks about the philisophical angles of the Matrix movies.
As far as content goes, I'd just like a movie-only version. I don't know how many box sets I've bought where I never even touched the extras. I barely have time to watch the movies themselves, much less the extras.
The Matrix Trilogy is going to be the rare HD-DVD that I actually purchase. Put it next to Apollo 13 and T3 and rent the rest.
