View Full Version : Mission Impossible III defective discs?
John Cage 01-08-07, 11:31 AM Hi, I purchased the Mission Impossible box set several months ago (just before I got my HD-DVD drive for xbox 360) I watched the first 2 films with no problem, but the 3rd doesn't load at all. Its the only disc (of 20 or so) that has given me any trouble in the player.
I searched the forums here quickly and couldn't find anything on it. I could not find any kind of contact info at all on Paramount's site. I'd like to be able to get the disc replaced, but since I purchased it a few months ago and haven't tried watching it yet, I'm thinking I might be out of luck.
Has anyone had a problem with that particular disc?
Noggin1980 01-08-07, 11:39 AM mine is the same on a Toshiba HD-E1 (Euro player but American disc) only disc that hasn't worked so far. Not got around to getting it replaced yet.
rudyusmc1980 01-08-07, 12:30 PM I bought MI3 by itself, no problems on HDXA1 with 2.0 firmware.
I had the single MI:3 version of the movie and it played fine. I was going to wait to get the first MI film when it was released by itself but I cracked and bought the box set, gave my MI:3 to a friend that has HD-DVD also.
Well, 1 and 2 played fine but 3 would not play at all. I took the box set back to Best Buy where I purchased it and exchanged it. New box...... 1 and 2 play fine, 3 wouldn't play. I took it back and I told them what was going on and asked if I could exchange MI:3 from the box set for the single packed version of MI:3 because the other movies were fine.
Since it was right after Christmas, they returned my MI:3 as a "No receipt" return and just exchanged it for me. That was very nice of them and guess what.....the new single packaged version of MI:3 plays just fine. Sounds like some bad MI:3 discs in some of the box sets.

My 360 HD DVD drive hooked up to my computer reports read errors on both discs of MI:3 when using DVDINFOPRO. My other HD DVDs do not report errors using this program.
How can I contact Paramount for a replacement?
John Cage 01-09-07, 05:25 AM I can't find Paramount contact info anywhere, aside from their main mailing address.
I got mine at Amazon several months ago so I doubt they will be able to do much for me.
TimGoodwin 01-09-07, 07:19 AM I also have a bad MI III disk. Got mine from Buy. com a few month's ago.
Jacksmyname 01-09-07, 07:54 AM I have the 3 disc set; all have played fine on the A2 and the XA2.
I just watched the 3rd movie last night on my Xbox 360 HD DVD player. It played fine. I just purchased the box set yesterday - so maybe I have a new pressing of it.

I got a defective Disc 1 from the boxset I got from buy.com. I'm still awaiting the RMA.
ragar01 01-10-08, 03:08 PM Is there anyway to get a replacement disc for MI III? My first disc is also bad.
Gary
I have the MI3 2 disc set. plays fine. I love that movie and it's great quality too. One of my early Paramount purchases.
I just purchased the box set from amazon. It hasn't arrived yet, but when it does I will report the results.

jdmac29 01-11-08, 03:47 PM I purchased miIII from bb and have had no problems with it on my A1. Sounds like some problems with the box sets.
ragar01 01-11-08, 04:05 PM My copy of MI3 that was defective was in the boxed set...I wonder if it is really a blu disc with the wrong label on it?
Gary
MI3 was bad in my boxed set too. Would not load period. I exchanged it. No problems.
Just received my mi box set. All work fine using the hd-dvd add on (xbox360).
Hey John Cage, are you connected to xbox live so that you can update your hd-dvd player?
Try clearing the cache, then put the mi3 disk in to view. It will ask you to update giving you the lastest version.
If your not connected to live, the lack of updates may be the problem.
p.s. I was not impressed at all with PQ of the first Mi.
