View Full Version : Scooby-Doo & Mummy Returns..video transfers, both winners.
Alan Gouger 01-08-07, 03:34 PM Both titles arrived today :)
Mummy Returns
Scope aspect ratio.
I had complained about the Edge Enhancement that plagued the transfer on the first "The Mummy" in the bright desert scenes but still I took the chance ( something addicting, cant hold back from buying new releases...help!! ) and rolled the dice on this one. To my surprise the transfers is excellent. No EE. Looks great. Very sharp. You will be pleased:)
Scooby Doo!!!
Flat 185:1 ratio.
I know I will catch some slack on this one but its a fun movie (leave your brain at the door) with lots of great color to show off your system and the HD DVD format. The transfer does not disappoint. No EE yet very sharp. Solid transfer.
I did not spend enough time with ether transfer to pick out any banding but even if there is a spot or two Im glad I picked these up. They both go to the front of my collection.
I do not think we will see any complaints coming from ether transfer.
Chris Rein 01-08-07, 03:58 PM So, according to the Tier thread, these will be in Tier 3? :D
Thanks for the review! The Mummy Returns is all set to come to my doorstep, and can't wait to watch it.
As for Scooby-Doo....

The colors are eye candy. A great show off disc even if you do not like the movie.
nharmon91 01-08-07, 04:11 PM I thought these were coming next week, sign me up for Mummy Returns!
Ian_Currie 01-08-07, 04:39 PM I'll have to get it just for the colors - I'm a sucker for anything super colorful.
the crane 01-08-07, 07:48 PM I also received the Mummy Returns this afternoon. The disc is playing right now and I am very happy with the transfer. There are some soft scenes, but all and all it is very crisp with great depth to the image.
The sound is fantastic. Even though it is a DD+ track it is very solid.
Hey.. even though Scooby Doo isn't a great movie, it still has Sarah Michelle Gellar in HD which totally makes up for it.
;)
Alan Gouger 01-08-07, 09:06 PM Its so nice to see natural sharpness without the use of EE !!

cotton168 01-08-07, 09:35 PM Nice photos Alan! :D I'll have to make sure I get The Mummy Returns. Didn't really like it, but Rachel Wiesz is my favorite actress! :)
mdc3000 01-08-07, 09:46 PM I think the Mummy Returns is one of the most fun sequels in recent memory that really topped the original in every way...I'm all over this one! Thanks for the heads up!
Alan Gouger 01-08-07, 10:59 PM These just did not turnout very good nor do they do the transfer any justice. It looks like film.
I was to far off axis. You can see the curve of the screen which is a silver material so the far right will appear darker.

We all know you bought Scooby-Doo because you have a thing for Velma :D
azmodien 01-08-07, 11:45 PM What about the quality of the movies? Are they also winners?
Its so nice to see natural sharpness without the use of EE !!It really is, isn't it :)
Yeah, I thought Scooby Doo looked really good transfer-wise when I first saw it as well ;)
We LOVE Scooby Doo here! Can't wait!!! :)
I like the second Scooby Doo film better, so I hope it's the same quality.
Gary Murrell 01-09-07, 05:45 AM thanks Alan, looking forward to Mummy Returns, great visuals in that one

You have a scratched/dirty screen. :D
I want to see more sexy Velma!!!
Gary Murrell 01-09-07, 07:14 AM I think those would be streaks from off angle viewing, lots of PJ screens do this when viewing from weird angles sadly
