Hello,
I know there's probably something that could be dug up in the thousands of threads/posts here, but I was hoping someone could point me there.

Ive had my Sony KDS50A2000 since October, and it's been great. Today, however, it stopped turning on. The red LED power light will blink 4 times, pause, and blink 4 times...over and over again. When I press power, I hear the TV click like its trying to start, then it clicks like its turning off immediately and the power light goes back doing its blinking thing. Now, obviously I've contacted Sony and they were helpful to give me the info of the nearest service centers, and assured me it will be fixed and for free.

However, I can't get a service guy out here for a few days so was wondering if anyone here knew the service codes and what 4 blinks means? Is my TV seriously hosed or does it just need a simple fix?

Thanks for your help.

im not sure of the service codes but is there any chance the lamp might have just gone prematurely?

4 blinks is possibly a fan problem.

You probably already know this. The manual says 2 red blinks means the internal temperature is abnormal and 3 red blinks means the lamp door might not be securely attached. It does not mention 4 red blinks.

SJ44 hit it, I got ahold of the Sony service center nearby and the tech said 4 blinks is a bad fan. They have to order the part which he isnt sure how long it will take, of course. If it werent in warranty he said it would cost me $345 to fix. The part Im not happy about, is the new part doesnt have its own extended warranty, it just lumps in with whats left in the main warranty.

My 60A200 did the same thing Christmas Eve. Unplug the TV. Open the access door to the lamp compartment. No need to remove the bulb. Close the door and latch it.

Plug TV in and see if this works.

I had to do this 2 or 3 times.

HTMAN21, did your TV have the same 4 blink code? Or was it something different? If its telling me the fan is bad I'd probably rather just go ahead and have it replaced while its under warranty

Yes. I kept it on low cooling. When it came back on it played about 2 minutes and a message appeared on the screen sayin that the TV was overheating and it went into high cool mode then shut off after a minute or so.

I waited about 15 minutes, unplugged it and opened and closed the lamp door. It restarted and about a day later I switched back to low cool mode to reduce fan noise.

It never did this again, however I returned it 4 or 5 days later.
