Hello all,
I am a long time lurker and have purchased a new JVC set about a week ago. I have found the info on this site to be most useful. The one thing I have noticed over my previous set (samsung taints CRT projection) is the inconsistent black reproduction. When most of the screen is supposed to reproduce black it seems more dark gray than black. I would say it resembles a black shirt that has faded over time(LOLA) or the brightness is too high.
Other times it seems to reproduce deeper blacks but only when parts of the screen are dark or black. like people's clothing(not faded) and cars etc. It really seems that the deeps blacks change everytime the scene changes even on the same movie or show. The same image can look dark the one frame, then, it pans away and back again and the shade of black changes.
Sorry to ramble I was just wondering if the set was"just the way it is" or maybe something else is going on. I at one point questioned if I may need a power conditioner or something. Is it something that could be remedied by ISF calibration? thanks,
Shawn
