Hi all,

I bought a Westinghouse 32W1 before Christmas for my PS3 Play room. I finally got my PS3 3 days ago. Of course, after 2 days of non stop setup, testing and research and concluded this is not the TV that I should keep for PS3.

Bottom line, can someone recommend a LCD TV 32" below CAN$1200 that can connect PS3 with HDMI that can produce crispy picture in 1080i and 720P ?

Many thanks in advance..

Hi,

What kind of problem are you having with the Westing? I'm also having problem with my W4207 Westing using HDMI from my PS3. Its seems that I could never use the HDM from my PS3. It flickers all the time. But When I use Monster Compoment cables it Rocks. But Like I said I really wanted to use HDMI bbut I'm thinking that the PS3 is not the problem. I think the problem is Westinghouse LCD Monitors. I really think they should come up with some kind of firmware or something to make this work..[B]

You guys might want to try a HDMI to DVI cable for the Westy's.

WLO, I also own a 32W1, and this set does not come with an HDMI port. I use a HDMI/DVI cable and run an optical cable to my receiver. I've had no issues.

I did use a HDMI->DVI cable to my 32W1 but it just does not sync when using HDMI interface - " no signal". I tried so many times and a few times it was trying to sync but ended up with whole bunch of scan lines on the screen and finally it hung ! Yes, it hung (I mean the TV hung) and forced me to do a restart.
I didn't even try to the audio part yet. For using the composit vedio, however, it worked ! So after reading all the problem mentioned in this forum about the compability issues with 32W1, I returned the damn thing.

Now, I am looking for something that will work with PS3 in HDMI for 720P and 1080i. I am willing to pay a bit more of money over the westinghouse.
Any suggestion ? Does the LG or Sharp work with it ?

Thanks again.

I own a Sharp Aquos 46D62U and a Westy W4207. They both have issues syncing HDMI signal. So for me the problem is the PS3, which went back to Futureshop today.

Sorry if I didn't help but I don't want people blaming the TV when the problem is somewhere else.

Thanks

Will the Samsung LSN3241D work ? Please someone who has successful connected to PS3 via HDMI in 720P or 1080i tell me the brand, model and what HDMI cable you use ?

Many thanks again.

Why do you "have to have it in HDMI"? I've got the PS3 running to my GWIII (that's funny LOL) over component and I can get it to display in 1080i and 720p. I know it's "not the BEST" BUT if you want that then $$ will be a big factor to get all the options you want There are lots of compatability issues right now but I'm sure they will get worked out. Remember you are an early adopter to the technology, and you will end up having problems.

I've heard of my sony TV not playing the HDMI to DVI cable (TV is a DVI and PS3 is the HDMI), so I said screw it, I still have a HUGE jump in PQ right now, and later when I feel it's the right time I'll get another honkin big TV with more bells and whistles (that will be obsolete in 12-18 months)

Oh, I thought PS3 can only provide 1080i and 720P over HDMI ? Also, are there any good qty component cables with the sony propriatary multifuntion connector ? I know I can buy one made of very thin unshielded coax cable for PS3..

Thanks again..

Sad isn't it with 360 people throwing fits for want of an HDMI connection and here on the PS3 forum we have people upset that HDMI doesn't work right in so many different televisions. I wish we didn't have to deal with these issues, but all the stupid DRM crap is just going to make things like this happen over and over again.
