I current have a XP30 feeding a Panny XR25, via tosklink, I have Bic Venturi Formula 6's for fronts, Bic Center, 2 Polks for rears and JBL Sub. Music off PC with soundcard is very good, However my DVD movies just don't seem to have that WOW in surround. The XP30 only shows 3.1 surround. The picture is great on my Mitsu HD1000 PJ. Is the fact the XP30 on does 3.1 an issue or would upgrading help the audio? If so what would be my options. Txs.

The XP30 should be sending the DD or DTS bitstream out the toslink port. I have an XP30 but don't remember if it will downmix DD or DTS to 2ch PCM via toslink. If so, this could be what is happening. I don't know where you are getting the 3.1 from, although it's been so long since I used my XP30 and don't remember what the LCD window displays.

The 3.1 is in the display area, you can toggle between 3.1 or 2 channel if available.
