Does anyone have any experience with the Phase Tech dArts Speakers and the DP-2000 16 Channel Amp.

I looked for a Phase Tech Owners Thread and there does not seem to be a lot of information on them.

Chuck,

Try posting your question over in the 'Ultra Hi-End HT Gear'.

I think a couple of guys who post there own the PT dArts.

Steve,

Posted in the high end. Thanks for the recommendation.

Suprised on how little mention these speakers get on the forums.

A reflection of their price point and not their relative value.

Plus the fact that you can't just segue into it a piece at a time. Many people here have that much money invested, but can't do it all at the same time. It's pretty much a $10K system just to get started, but really $15K-$20K as a finished system. Not sure about the new smaller version though.

Waiting for a quote from a dealer now in my area. He indicated around $11,000 for a system.

Remember the price includes the DP2000 16 Channel Amplifier.

Sounds like a good deal. Are you doing on-wall, in-wall, free-standing? 5.1? 7.2?

Yes, sounds like a good deal. Aren't they similar, from a design standpoint, to the NHT Xds? I believe they use the DEQX also?

Still trying to decide on which way to go. Planning to put the LRC behind my projection screen most likely. So based on any recommendations from existing users the surrounds and rears can go either way.

Hopefully, I can find someone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area that has a set installed.

I looked at the NHT Xd Speakers on their web site and read a few reviews and did not get a warm and fuzzy feel for them. I talked with a NHT dealer a while back when I was looking at RBH Reference Series but he was limited to the MC Series and recommended the NHT equipment. He was supposed to call me back to discuss and never heard from him. I think I will give him a call and discuss. Always good to have more information.

Also, Phase Tech has a 10 year warranty on the speakers and 3 years on the amplifier. Ofcourse if they do not perform who needs a warranty. NHT is 3 years parts and labor.

They are similar, but use D-Audio digital amps with pre-programmed EQ curves and 24dB/octave crossovers. NHT uses steeper crossovers and a bit more intense technology, but, yes, they're very similar overall. The PT system has really great room correction now whereas NHT is still working on theirs.

If I go with the dArts 525 system the next step will be which pre/pro to use with them. If anyone is running the dArts 650's let me know what your setup is. My HT will be about 3000 cf (14Wx20Lx11H) which is perfect for the 525 system.

I did call the NHT rep and ask for a price on the Xd system but in a 7.1 setup I beleive it will be more than the PT and don't beleive they have an inwall option.

Yes - a 6 or 7 channel NHT system would be $15K-$20K, which is where the PT system shines in value and the NHT doesn't have in-walls yet.

Hard to beleive I have not had "1" PT owner with dArts reply. I even have a post in the high $ area and not one there either.

I hope PT is selling more speakers than this!

Unfortunately, most self-described audiophiles don't like synergistic, all in one solutions that work better than piecemeal ones.

Try to get in touch with Mr. Poindexter. He has a set of the Phase Technology dArts in his ultimate home theater. You can also search in the dedicated home theater construction thread to get some information on the speakers along with pictures - search for Mr. Poindexters's Home Theater Construction Thread.

He's also got a set of Genesis speakers in his theater / showroom.

If you're ever passing Albuquerque way, let me know in advance.

I'm waiting for multi channel digital connections to show up on the room correction processors. I don't like the thought of the signal going through multiple A/D D/A conversions like they do now. I understand they had to do it based on todays technology and I'm sure net gain is worth it, but it's only a matter of time before HDMI audio makes it down to audio processors. The same thing happened with video processors.

It's going to be awhile. Most digital amps require analog correction.

Haroon,

Thanks for the idea. I will look in the Home Theater Construction thread for Mr. Poindexter's post. Pakistan is a long way but glad to see a post from there. I am in the aircraft sales business and we bought a couple out of there last year from the Aga Khan Foundation. My company website www.heli-x.com was also done by a friend of mine in the US that is from Pakistan and his brother in Pakistan does all the programing at night from there.

John,

Visited Albequrque a couple of times. If I get out that way I'll let you know.
