Hi; I 've been reading around this forum for a while and now I am in need of help so decided to register and post my question.

I know there's a search engine and believe me, I tried using it.....but when you get the search results showing threads with thousands of replies, it gets a bit discouraging... :)

So here's my problem; I have an Oppo 971 connected to a Hitcahi 57"CRT projection TV (DVI to HDMI, 720p or 1080i)); The problem I am having is that I get some sparkling (I understand this is the right term, for dancing white pixels in dark areas...); not a real big concern because it happens only with very few movies (that made me think that was a problem with the discs), but I thought maybe there's an easy fix for this?

Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

How long is the HDMI->DVI cable? Is it possible to use one that is shorter (if only as a test)?

The cable is probably 6 feet long; I had the same cable with my previous player (Denon 19010) with absolutely no sparkling problems though.

I could try a different cable, but isn't 6 feet still considered a "short" cable??

Thanks for your reply.

I swapped the $100 Monster :o cable I had istalled, with the $0.99 cable that came with the Oppo. Problem solved :)

So who said that cable quality was not important for digital?? :D

Thanks Paul!!!
