Would someone please tell me the power consumption of the PS3 that's stated on its outside label? I need to get a UPS or surge protector, and I need the power specs.
My PS3 in on the way, and I'd like to go ahead and order a UPS, etc. for it. :)
Also, is there an online manual for the PS3 in PDF form? If so, please post the link. All I could find was the HTML form.
TIA.

When I bought my 40 GB model, I was somewhat shocked at how power hungry the unit is. I'm assuming that maximum power only occurs when the fans are at they're highest speeds. Has anyone confirmed the actual consumption under normal use (i.e. watching a movie)? Does this not seem excessive given that stand alone players consume about 10 % of the power that the PS3 does? My Toshiba A3 only pulls 30 watts.

Stolen from Beyond3D (http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=35817)
AV Watch's figures :
150-170 W -- starting up
160-170 W -- navigating in XMB
170-180 W -- Playing BD movie disc
~180 W -- Playing AVHCD
180-199? W -- Playing games (e.g. RFOM, Genji, apparently never crossing 200 W)
Tech-on's figures :
max 180 W -- navigating in XMB
200 W -- when inserting game disc and spindle spins up
187 W -- when game's opening movie is playing
190-205 W -- playing game (don't seem to mention which game)
195 W -- playing BD movie disc
and I saw an article a while back that said Folding pulls about 200W.. which is about as resource intensive at it gets.

All the emperical evidense I have seen had it running under 220 Watts.
I'll plug in my Kill-a-Watt and see..if I can find space to plug in the Kill-a-Watt! ;)
My 60GB uses 169W at idle in the XMB, 170 when actually using the XMB, and 202 when folding. 210 if you're actually moving the view around in the FAH client.
Playing a Blu-Ray disk (Donnie Brasco) uses 178.
The 40 GB is supposed to stay under 150. The low heat output makes me tend to believe that.

Funny! that page shows how to replace the sixaxis battery. huh...
Yeah, and it made the common mistake of confusing the peak power specs of the power supply for actual power consumption.
