I have a question for anyone with a PS3 and a Westinghouse tv. I have a PS2 hooked up to the 27w7. The 27w7's performance for a 480i and 480p signal is pretty bad to say the least thanks to the ATI Xilleon chipset it uses from what I've read here. My question is would a PS3 worthwhile for this set? I'm pretty sure it's just the chipset with the 480 signals, but I'm nervous that it is something like the response time of the set. For what it's worth, I hooked my PC up to the tv and played Oblivion over the VGA connection. Looked fine, no ghosting or anything like that when playing it at nearly the native resolution
Thanks for any help

Not sure which Westy model I have but it is a 27" model. It is a 720p display. Is yours only 420p? That seems rather odd.

The native resolution on the tv is 1366x768. It does support 720p and 1080i. The only problem with the 480i/p signal is with the Xilleon chip. Olevia users with the Xilleons have the same problems with the PS2. I just do not want to spend $600 on a PS3 only to discover ghosting issues, so I was hoping someone here had the PS3 hooked up to a Westy with a Xilleon chipset.

Well comparing HD signals 720p and up to 420p is kind of off in the first place. They won't ever be close in clarity.

I don't mind it on mine. It's not the greatest picture, but again, you are trying to play old PS2 games that are 420i/p on a 720p TV. Not to mention most PS2 games are were not widescreen, so you have the issue of playing 4:3 games on a 16:9 tv.

I'm not expecting PS2 games to look better on the tv. I just don't think I was clear with my first post. I'm concerned about the ghosting on the tv when playing a PS2 game. I'm concerned that this is from the response time on the tv, and not a product of poor scaling on the chipset's part. If it is an issue of response time, then I would think that even a PS3 with an HD signal would still have ghosting issues. I am hoping someone with a Westy tv has a PS3 or 360, and does not have an issue with ghosting. I've accepted the subpar 480i/p performance of the tv with the PS2. Thanks for the help

I have a ps3 on a 27w7...looks great!

It's via HDMI...into my Onkyo TX-SV674, and then into the Westy.

I for one didn't think that the ps2 looked too bad on it via Svideo.

I've been watching a ton of HD stuff on cable as well as a lot of BLu-Rays. No complaints!

If you are asking about Ghosting, then no I haven't experienced it.
