I've run out of analog audio inputs on my scaler (Hello Wii bye bye PS2) so I'm wondering if PS2's optical digital output sends out stereo for games. I would just test it, but I don't have the cable yet.

The PS2 optical out sends Dolby Pro Logic (as well as stereo if that's all you want).

I've heard that an early PS2 title (Gradius IV and V) is the only one that won't do that; it requires the red/white cables.

Yeah, I remember almost losing my mind when I dusted off that game to have no sound. Wierd
