Anyone have these seats? They have the same profile as the 090's but with a different padding similar to the 45004. I'm strongly considering them and would like others opinions if you have ever sat in them or owned them. Thanks!

Being a Berkline dealer, we have had several inquiries about the 45003, so I dug into it with Berkline last week and was told that these is no model 45003. The new styles are the 45000, 45001, 45004, 45008, 45009, 45010, and 45012. Let me konw if you would like any information on any of these. Thanks, Paul Evans, Leather-Direct

That's strange given that one of the AVS sponsors has them listed on their website. See URL...

Makomachine,

This is 45003 and it has exact dimensions as the 090s. The only difference is in the shape of the back cushion. I sat in all the Berkline recliners. I have 090s for 4 years. If I had to do it again, the 45003 would be my choice...

If you have any more questions, pm me... There are certain things I cannot answer here on the forum, but I can give you some more info off line.

The 45003 is an awesome set. It gives you the comfort of the 090, and even borrows some of the ameneties of the 094. Here's a better pic:

What are the amenities on the 45003 that are not on the 090?

Also, is there a price difference (without stating actual prices) between the 45003 and the 090? I just want to know if there is a difference.

The 45003 has storage compartments in the armrests like 094s and aluminum silver cup holder inserts.

No price discussions are allowed, but you know how you can get your answers ... :)

After much online, and in store searching, I decided to order a set of 3 Berkline 45003 black leather grade 4 power recline seats (3) from Roman. He was very helpful, and extremely honest. My seats should be arriving at the end of feb. 07. I will let you all know how they work out.

I ordered 6 45003's with power recline from Roman as well - great customer service but won't be receiving them until end of March by request. I'll update the thread after I receive them.

I have just received my 3 Black 45003's from Roman this week. AWESOME chairs, GREAT service! I am very glad to have seen the posts referencing this model before I ordered the 090's. The small extras like the storage arms and stainless cup holders made a huge difference and I love the chair-backs.

That's great to hear. So you think they are more comfortable than the 090's? I like the concept of the padding compared to the 090's but it's great to hear someone say they love them.

What are the width measurements for the individual chairs? Roman's site shows the 090s specs when you click on the specs for the 45003's (but with the storage arms, I figure the 45003s have to be wider).

caesar1,

That is because these have exact the same dimensions as 090s... I do not have the spec sheet for the 45003, but again it is exactly the same chair with different shape of the back cushion.

Mako- I think that the backs are more comfortable than the 090's based on my trials. I like how the seatback is more plush and props the head up some while fully reclining.

UNC Nick,

Do you have a curved row? From what I understand, you only get the storage compartments IF you get the curved row (i.e. the v-shaped armrests).

Thanks. How do they feel?

UNC Nick

I've got a curved row of 3. The storage compartments are only in the "wedge-shaped" arms.

The seats are very comfortable. The back is plush, but still firm if that makes any sense. I'm really enjoying them.

I really only have hands-on experience with the curved sets of three, but I think that each of the wedge arms add another inch to the equation, since I get 114" versus the 112" of the 090.

Hope that helps!

I'm considering the 45003's for the next powerbuy (c'mon ROMAN!!), but I need to know if the storage is ONLY in the curved row arms, or do the straight row arms also have storage? I was looking at 2 straight rows of 4, but storage may be a deal breaker. I have also seen a storage unit available that is about double-wide of the regular arms. I may have to resort to that on the front row if I can't get the configuration I want with storage.

Any advice??

Ed,

Be careful what you wish for - you may get it :)

The 45003 do not have storage compartments in the straight armrests. The compartments are only available in the wedge arms. The separate consoles will add to the price...

I also am considering the 45003's but can't find anyone around me that sells ANY berklines so I can at least try something similar to it out before I make a purchase. Anyone with the leather or leather/vinyl combo able to elaborate on how good it is? I have 2 small dogs (miniature pinschers) and I don't want them to be able to leave marks on the furniture (they bounce all over the place). Also, how good is it about not absorbing spills or anything? I want to get all black but just curious if it absorbs anything. Thanks.

Roman - quick question - I am going to a trade show in Atlanta in another month or so - we will be driving from the Canadian/Maine border all the way to Georgia and I am wondering if you can arrange for a viewing of the 45003's and the 090's somewhere if I was to "swing in" along the way. Let me know when you have the chance - no rush - thanks !

There are 4 grades of leather with the 1st being basic and the 4th being very smooth. I also have 2 small dogs (miniature pinschers) but I think they will be fine with the leather. The sample seems very durable still but I won't know for a few more weeks for sure heh.

I have 090s for 4 years. If I had to do it again, the 45003 would be my choice...
Roman is a true believer! So here are my two burning questions:

Is the head cushioning of the 45003 too aggressive? It juts out much further than your average chair. Or does it give enough that it's not fatiguing; and
I have a Berkline dealer in town and have sat in the 090 (no 45003s on the floor to compare). The 090 did not feel substantial to me. Is the bottom cushioning of the 45003 the same or does it have a different density than that of the 090?

I know this isn't fair, but my favorite seat is a Bradington*Young 940. And sure the Berks generally aren't in the same league, but are the 45003s close enough?

vili
02-18-07, 10:29 AM
I can almost guarantee you that you won't find a 45003 anywhere near you. For whatever reason Roman is about the only person that can order them. I called approximately 35 dealers in a 8 hour radius of me and the very few people that even carried the Berklines HT seating on their floor have never even heard of the 45003. Also a few other online dealers stated that Roman was the only one who could get them (guess he's just that good :P). I liked the 90s but didn't like looking up at the ceiling fully reclined so that's why I went with the 45003's. Haven't experienced them personally but I'm sure I'll love them.

From what Roman said that 45003 is the EXACT same chair as the 90s except for the back cushioning "pillow". Same dimensions...everything...just the 45003s have the different back.

rsh
02-18-07, 11:05 AM
Gentlemen,

The 45003 had the same base - same seat cushion and armrests as the 090. It is the SAME CHAIR, except for the shape of the back cushion. It comes with two bonuses – storage compartments (on the wedged armrests only) and silver aluminum cup holder inserts. The 090 has a flatter back and when you recline and rest you head on the cushion your will be looking at the top of the screen if not ceiling especially if your screen is low mounted (many folks including myself have this space constraint because the theaters are build in the basements with relatively low ceilings). The shape of the 45003 back in the reclining position will provide additional head support, so you will be looking at the screen (similar to putting a pillow in between your head and the back cushion).

One more thing - the 45003 does not have 1.5 armless seat option that 090 and 073 have.

No, that is not what it means.

There is a piece - 50. It is 35" wide armless seat - available on 090s and 073. It is not available on 45003.

The armless loveseat which is 87 (has two independent recliners) is available on 45003.

I gotcha. 1.5 as in one-and-a-half widths. You know, I hadn't noticed the 1.5 style before. That's a very nice option (when available).

Isn't the 87 two 54's?

Love the chairs. Wife asked why we didn't get them earlier! Wouldn't have changed a thing. I got 3 power chairs, curved configuration, Grade 3 leather. Looks (and smells!) wonderful. Our dog even loves to sit in "his" chair and chew his rawhide (on top of a very thick blanket).

Chairs look great!! :D

I would like to hear from someone that has the buttkickers installed. How do they work? What's your experiences? Are they worth the costs?? Anyone have the wireless modules?

I would also like to know how difficult it is to manually close the recliners, put the foot rest down and into a locked position? Do they slide back very easily or do you have to put some muscle into it?

Roman, I also would like to know if the power recliner is available on the loveseat?? If it is, where do they install the switch, is it way down on the side of the couch?

rsh
02-23-07, 07:29 PM
Belusch,

The buttkickers are great, but I will let someone else to describe the feelings. All I can say is that if you do not get them you will never know what you are missing :).

It is not difficult to close the recliners and it is not difficult to recline the chair either. The kids and older people may find it difficult for them to bring the recliners into the upright position, though. You do need to press on the footrest with your legs. That is another reason I highly recommend the power recline over manual.

The armless loveseat, which is available on many Berkline style groups have power recline option for both seats, and both seats will have individual controls. The armless loveseat power recline controls are located on the right side of each seating cushion similarly to the manual controls.

I'd like to see more Berkline photos from actual end users. I'm hoping someone has them in a couch configuration and not just the love seat.
