i have an old p3 1ghz collecting dust. it has a tv tuner, and it does have MCE05 on it. would it be worth it to break that sucker out to watch live tv on my 360, or is that computer just too much of a piece of crap to be able to stream live television to my 360 wirelessly.
not hdtv, just my standard definition comcast junk.

Just curious, aren't you gaming on a TV? Why would you want to watch live TV through your 360 on the TV? Sorry it just seems redundant.

because my 360 is hooked up via vga to a lcd monitor, and the room its in does not have a cable jack.
Your old PC should work fine. Your 360 will be able to stream the tv signal long as your tv tuner works with mce05.

For pre-recorded videos, the 360 does the decoding. Not sure about whats going on in the background on the PC side when you're watching TV though.
Give it a shot. All you have to do is allow the 360 to connect to your MCE PC to find out. However, I have a feeling that the pc hosting the tv-tuner will at least need the hp to tune in to the channels you want on th PC side before it being able to work on the 360.

I have a home built AMD 2400+ running MCE2005 with the ATI HDTV Card.
It streams live TV to the 360 better than it does showing it on my computer.
I also use it to watch DVD's.
