So this is my first foray into DVD-A format and I bought the new Beatles remix "Love". I have the Oppo connected via HDMI to my Pioneer Elite 84. When I popped in the disc it immediately started playing as 2 channel Stereo. It said "STEREO" on the front panel of the Pioneer. I expected PCM or something multi-channel. Is there something I am missing on the Oppo? The music sounded amazing though, havent tried A/Bing it against the plain CD version yet though.

Do you have the Oppo set for "DVD-Audio"? Do you have it set for "5.1"?

Not sure what you mean by "set for DVD-A" - but I do have the HDMI output set to multi-channel (or 5.1 whatever the option is). I am probably missing a very basic setup in the Oppo. Another issue is though that the DVD-A package says it contains different mixes, both multi-channel and high rez stereo. How owuld I choose between the two? I see no options for that.

On the first page of the setup menu, do you see where it says "DVD Audio mode"? Set it for DVD-Audio if it's not already. Sounds like it is, though, since:

Same menu as above, those options are available when you choose "DVD Video".

Alright I'll check that out when I get home. This being my first DVD-A disc I guess I never had the option of messing with that DVD-A menu option, it was usually greyed out I believe. Thanks.

I think you get the choice only when there's no disc in, otherwise they're greyed out.
