I have a Samsung HPS4273 42' Plasma TV and I chose the Samsung HD960 for my new high quality DVD player to go along with it.
For the most part, watching DVDs has been a real treat, with one glaring exception.
Watching ALIAS season 5 on DVD, I encountered multiple occurences of out of sync audio as well as a very annoying problem with darkly-lit interior scenes when the camera was close up to the actor's faces. The shadowing on their faces seemed almost "painted" on, giving it the feeling as though I was watching a moving painting, rather than a real life image.
It was extremely disconcerting obviously.
I haven't noticed these issues on other DVDs, but honestly I haven't tried that many others to see if it happened again.
The player also takes what I consider an inordinate amount of time to perform a layer switch.
Has anyone else tried this player, and if so have you noticed any of these issues? Perhaps I got a problem unit and should just switch it for a new one? Or should I just go out and choose a different player for my setup?
Oh, the player is directly connected to the TV via HDMI for video, and the audio is handled via an Optical cable to my receiver.
Any input is appreciated.
