I just got myself a Samsung 860 DVD player, and i'm having some strange issues with the picture quality.
I have it setup to output 480i over component to my Pioneer Elite 82TXS (using the scaler in the Pioneer instead of the one in the sammy), and then from the Pioneer I run HDMI to my Samsung LN4095D. I'm noticing that the picture is very, well, for lack of a better word, "jittery". It's not so noticable for regular movies, but when watching something with a lot of contrast between objects on screen (I noticed this first while watching some Family Guy DVDs), the picture will seem to flicker or jitter. It's not so much that the picture actually moves, but to give a specific example, when looking at the outline of a character's head against a wall, or the roof line of a building, the line will suddenly blur significantly and appear to shake a little, and then flicker back to a crisp clean line. it does this quite often and i find it extremely distracting.
I did not notice any of this type of behavior when scaling my old toshiba DVD player with the Pioneer, nor do I see the problems when scaling TV content, so I don't think the Pioneer is to blame here.
I've yet to hook up the DVD player directly to the TV or with a different type of video cable, but was wondering if anyone else has a similar setup and is experiencing similar problems.
