I just got an Oppo 981HD in today, and I have a slight problem with it. Unlike my old DVD players, for some reason the Oppo moves the image up too much on my screen. It doesn't actually cut anything off the bottom, but its noticeable in some movies, especially 2.35:1 movies where the top black bar is smaller than the bottom. It's also noticeable sometimes in movies where the very tops of peoples heads are not visible in on the screen....it just doesn't look right.

Is there any fix to this? My TV is a brand new JVC HD-61FN97 1080p set.

Thanks in advance.

Take it off zoom or squeeze mode.

I'm not a newbie...it's not on either of those modes. It's on normal output.

Have you tried any other 1080p signal with this display? My 981 shows no overscan at 1080p with a Westinghouse LVM-37w3. Looks like 1:1 mapping.

No, I haven't tried any other 1080p sources. Is this a problem that can be fixed?

hey, i'm kinda of a newbie too, but shouldn't you calibrate the display with the 1080p source, I've got an ole panny and if i remember correctly i calibrated the panny RPTV with 480i;480p;1080i signals for overscan and alignment.

I've got no experience with these new thin LCD's/Plazma's so i could wrong bout this

I'm stuck with this big ole dinosaur til it breaks
