Why is it that when you exit out of a playing an HD-DVD but don't take the disk out of the tray that it restarts at the beginning when you go back? I find it strange and very annonying that HD-DVDs don't have a basic function that DVDs have had for a long time. Or is this something unique to the MS HD-DVD drive, even though it works for regular DVDs? Any hope that MS can fix this in the future with firmware update?

I think this was an issue for all HD DVDs? I'm not sure though, perhaps someone with a standalone also can confirm this.

Word has it that this is a disc software issue.... not player issue...

Players can do it, but software on the discs hasn't been enabled to do it

Yep, its a software issue the disc has to allow bookmarking or resume. Most WB movies allow you to save your spot, although you have to set it before exiting otherwise you start over.
Not a problom for me as I watch movies all the way thew. I can't stand stoping a movie I've not seen. Must watch it all the way.

I saw doom last night, good PQ ok movie, rock need acting help NOW..

I must be borderline ADD b/c I rarely watch all the way through in one viewing. I don't get why the software won't allow this feature. Seems like something very basic.
