My living room HT cosists of my sony cloudy KDL-40V2500 and my computer. I cant think of a better way to listen to TV,movies, music and my own jam sessions than with my Xfi elite pro sound card and my gigaworks s750 7.1 surround sound speakers THX George lucas certified (only speakers with full dynamic range).
The speakers are only 700watts but I have never been able to turn them up full for fear of the windows breaking. seems no matter how loud I crank them the sound does not distort in the least. I had a tenant who lives 9 floors above me asking me if I heard some ones loud bass thumping recently lol. I also do all my recording in my living room (home studio) and the elite pro makes it a breeze. (also comes with a breakout box where my cable box connects to through fiber optics)
last but not least I like to play games once and a while and playing computer games like 2142 on this screen and these speakers is just stunning.
I built my pc myself
mobo: gigabyte 965P-DQ6
Proc: Intel core 2 extreme x6800
vid card: BFG G8800 GTX
sound card: X-Fi elite pro with breakout box
mem: Corsair TWIN2X2048 c4 pc6400
DVD: LG DVD burner (waiting for the blue ray burners to come down in price a little)
I also have a novation MIDI keyboard to entertain everyone with and a few hundred VST instruments.
I don't know if you guys consider a pc to be part of a home theater but I wouldn't have it any other way and as far as sound goes this config out performs set ups that are way more expencive.
