Hey, I am thinking of upgrading my 46" 720p Samsung DLp for a 1080p set. I really do like Samsung, but I want to get the best bang for my buck.

I watch a lot of HD cable and I use my HTPC a lot for playing back a variety of sources: DVD, HD DVD, 1080i/p mpeg-2 and h264 .ts files, and xvid files at many resolutions.

I also have a Nintendo Wii with component out at 480p and soon to have an Xbox 360 via component or VGA.

I think that based upon the size of my room and current TV, I'd want to stay between 50" and 56".

I was simply thinking, I will just grab the 50" or 56" current Samsung 1080p DLP, since I like them so much. And I really would love to stay with Samsung. But I came across this link: http://www.hometheatermag.com/hookmeup/1106hook/ and am concerned - should I wait? I can probably deal with 6 months of waiting, unless there is a big sale. After that, I'd like to upgrade. Also a consideration is dumping my current set before t he value falls through the floor.

Any ideas, recommendations, suggestions, advice, etc is greatly valued and appreciated.

Thanks.

I recently ordered a HLS6187W based on reading the plethora of information on these boards.

My only suggestion is to check out the discussions on the various 1080p models and go to the stores and check them out.

I have the Samsung HL-S6187W and it's met and exceeded everything I'd expected and wanted.

If you wait for the newer models coming out this year...you'll lean toward waiting until they drop down in price. By then...you'll be in the same situation you're in now next year. At that time...., same as now...you'll see news of even newer sets coming out and the ongoing cycle continues.
