I have a InFocus IN72 (480) that will be hooked up via HDMI cable to a JVC RX-D412B receiver. According to many reviews the IN72 performs best using the 480i setting.

I may upgrade projectors in a year or two. But, I can also upgrade to a different DVD player at that time as well (maybe HD or Blue Ray).

If I get an Oppo DVd that outputs 1080i, would that still work using 480i in my projector?

Or, can I get by using a less expensive player that will do what I need.

The Oppo 970 does 480i over HDMI. The 971 and 981 don't. There is a sticky thread at the top of this forum about players that do 480i over HDMI.

Or are you thinking of running some other resolution to the receiver and 480i from that to the display?

I wasn't sure what to do. The 970 is going for a pretty good price now too.

I was reading the stickied thread but wasn't aware what "SDI" was.
