First, how much better is EyeTV 2.0 than EyeTV 1.8.5? Should I place a priority on installing OS X 10.4 so I can upgrade to EyeTV 2.0? One thing I don't like about EyeTV is that there is no way to organize recorded programs in subfolders. Another thing is that their "preferred" iPod export format doesn't appear to play well with iTunes or my wife's video iPod.

Also, if anyone has had experience consolidating iTunes and iPhoto libraries from multiple user accounts onto an external drive, I'd appreciate some tips.

Finally, I'd like some advice on choosing additional components:

A - USB Audio device to de-kludge splitting audio between desktop speakers and home audio system (right now, desk speakers are on Tape Monitor amp outputs), and

B - A client to put a remote 480i home theatre w/ 5.1 surround sound on the airport network so it can access EyeTV recordings and downloaded/ripped content fileshared from the iMac. Seems like a Mac Mini or MacBook is the only choice but I could be ignorant of other options.

Eventually I'll be upgrading the home theatre to HD, but right now it's all 480i legacy video equipment (DVD, VCR, A/V amp, etc). At that time I'll worry about getting the required HD bandwidth into that room. (I can probably run ethernet or fiber.)
