I have a few questions:
1) I have a Yamakawa 288k-vga and the audio out just stopped working. There was no physical damage or disruption to the player. I've tried swapping cables, speakers etc with no luck. I've looked through all the configuration options that I can find and I can't see anything that was changed, but there certainly could have been something. Any suggestions?
2) Assuming that the cheap dvd player is dead and I now need a new one, I'd like to get an upconverting one, given how cheap they are. Before I go there - should I just use the scaling on the projector? I have a Benq pb6200 and the scaling with 480p input is supposedly fairly good according to reviews. And I'm used to it.. no real complaints.
If I just use the scaling on the projector, then can someone give me a recommendation for a decent and less than $100 DVD player? It needs to be region free or flashable to region free and have 5.1 analog outs.
3) If upconversion is a good thing (in a <$200 player) then I need a recommendation for a player that will do:
region free (if I have to flash it that is okay)
5.1 analog out
upconversion via component or preferably VGA
DVI or HDMI out is a plus, but not necessary
I looked at the emergency recommendation system, but it seems like none of them are both currently available and meet my qualifications except possibly the newest NeoNeo/Neodigits one, the H4000. Does anyone have one yet and are they decent? I've heard of bad support (not that I'm doing that well with yamakawa support).
