I'm seeing, for lack of a better term, rolling bars running vertically on my screen when I connect my cable through DVD player (built in tuner), or my VCR. My first thought is to try an in-line noise filter from the coaxal to the tuner. My next guess would be clean the power up with a surge protector with somekind of conditioner. All the cables have been tested on other systems with no problems. The DVD player shows a perfect picture until I touch the coaxal cable to it. Any other reccomendations would be great or thoughts on my first two options. Some basic system info as follows:

Optima Projector displaying 120" screen
Pioneer A/V receiver - Midlevel 7.1 with all the in and outs you need
Panosonic DVD with built in tuner
Basic cable service (not digital)

Running Coaxal to DVD - Component from DVD to Receiver - Component from Receiver to Projector.

I just had that issue as well, mine was from DC current travelling over the cable line. I bought a surge protector with coax in / out (to ground it) and it solved my problem, and it should solve yours, reffered to as "ground loop".

Or... just call your cable provider to come out to check that the line is properly grounded.

In another thread, the poster disconnected the cable ground and the problem disappeared. He knew then that the problem was the cable company. This may save you some bucks if the conditioners, etc., are expensive. Then, hook ground back up and call company like above poster said. If not fixed, ground loops can be a pain in the neck. You will have to start isolating each component to find the bad one. If possible, hook up all component grounds to the same ground. If the ground loop is inside your house, it may be from using two different ground wires. Another poster mentioned the two different ground wires may have different potentials (something about ohms law creating resistance?)

I honestly don't know how anyone could stand watching a 120" analog image. I can hardly stand it on a 27" TV.

Trust me... it has nothing to do with the "opertunity" to up my post count nor am I picking nits. It's just that your continual obsession with criticizing others about not having HD and using VCR's becomes challenging.
