I'm sorry if this is not the appropriate section for this. I did a search and got 205 topics to come up.

What is the safest way to clean the backside of DVD discs? My two year-old know how to get her discs out of the player and has smudges on most of them. Some are so dirty they don't play well. I'm wanting to clean them. Is just plain water and a soft cloth the way to go or are there specific cleaners? Thanks.

People use all sorts of things. You can be pretty rough. I have a motorized "Xinix" brand cleaner, about $30 from cyberguys.com, and I've seen it on store shelves. Uses alcohol for cleaning or a liquid abraisive for scratch repair.

Warm water and a little dish soap with a soft cloth or tissue if they're just fingerprinted. Then pat them dry with a dry tissue or soft cloth. To be honest, I use the sink sponge with warm water and dish soap then pat them dry on a tissue. It doesn't damage them, and it's pretty inexpensive.

I just yank my undershirt out of my trousers and wipe the disc with the end of it. Works fine. No kidding.

Some people get too fussy about this stuff, finicky.
