Am i missing something? I saw a show on Discovery HD a few days ago called Planet Earth with this exact same premise and it was indeed amazing to see. If it's already on Discovery HD then why does it have a March release date?

I dont think they are the same Planet Earth. This one is a BBC production that was just announced to be shown on Dicovery HD and also releasing on BD and HD DVD.

They' ve been showing this one on the BBC-HD in H.264 and it's amazing stuff. I imagine as good as it will look on DISC-HD it will be absolutely perfect H.264 transfers to BD, and well worth the $100.

Oh, wait. Only 4 1hr episodes for $100? Er, forget it.

Thats MSRP right? So hopefully Amazon sells it for around $80?

OMG, if there's one title I was hoping for on Blu-ray THIS is it! Planet Earth is amazing, absolutely amazing! Even in SD it blows you away.

The only thing that would improve it is if they included "Are we killing Planet Earth?" a related documentary that explains the issues of gloabal warming FAR better than "An inconvenient truth". Actually it says "90mins not broadcast on Discovery" which could be that, it was 2x45mins IIRC

I'm seriously gobsmacked, I didn't expect any release (from the BBC) until the format war had been settled or for Warner to release it on both formats. It might not matter here but it'll cause a stir in Britain.

The numbers are disc numbers. There are 4 discs with 3 on each (2 on the final disc), 11 in total. Well worth $100, let alone $80!

If this is successful, hopefully Galapagos will get a release, that feature probably even more impressive photography
