Yeah, are you sure this is BD? If so they usually mark the prices up so high it's not much of a sale.

Hmm, I already have BHD, Click, and Talladega Nights thanks to picking them up used at GameStop.

I guess I'll go Underworld: Evolution (not a good movie, but I can use my PS3 rebate) + Monster House.

Kung Fu Hustle is apparently censored and the House of Flying Daggers is known around here as the House of Flying Artifacts, so I'll probably resist the temptation to splurge.

You know, I know it might sound crazy... but sometimes I buy movies because I like them and not because of PQ alone. ;) For what comes to $12.50 each, I can handle the artifacts.

The exact reason why Underworld isn't explicitly on my list for example, is that I'm just not totally into that film.

Talladega actually has good PQ - we're not talking the Sony pack-in here.

No, where'd you hear that? One's a BD25, one's a BD50.I haven't compared them, but I'm not sure that it mattered. The BD50 included extras and was a different cut of the film. I don't think it looked that good on the BD50 version I watched, so the master or the way they tried to make it look could have been limiting here. I don't think I'm a fan of shooting digitally and then trying to make it look like film from a couple of instances I've seen where it seems like that is what they did.

Well sure, true - but my understanding was that everyone who actually bought the film said the PQ was excellent.

Oh well whatever; this shows how even in a small world, confusion can reign. ;)

For me it doesn't matter either way, as I've got the PS3 version and that's the only version I'll ever own of that film (though I enjoy it).

OK guys, the only difference I've noticed between the 25GB and the 50GB disc is that the retail 50 averages about 2-3MBPS higher which is because all of these discs are variable bitrate so even though the transfer is the same, during encoding they just allowed for a slightly higher disc capacity. Most of the rest of the 50GB disc capacity is going to the PCM soundtrack which is not on the 25GB disc.

As far as brightness, color saturation, etc, it's the exact same on both discs. I checked quite a few scenes back to back and got the same image, with a slightly higher bitrate on average and I'm doubting the bitrate difference is enough to make a noticeable difference. The PCM soundtrack is probably the most notable addition to the 50GB disc.

So there you have it guys, the 50GB disc is so close to the 25GB disc in image quality, you won't be able to tell the diffference. If you want the PCM soundtrack, get the 50GB, otherwise for those of you with the 25GB, just keep it, you're not missing anything. Technically the 50 is a superior disc with better audio...

I think they're pretty close. I had the freebie, watched it and then sold it. With the exception of a few shots of the crowds at the race track in the longshot, most of the film looked VERY flat, soft and filtered. A very "processed" look. After watching Kingdom of heaven, was like going back to SD IMHO.

So I assume safely that if you pick a US$29.99 title, you can pick any of the 7 titles, but if you pick a US$24.99, you can only pick one of the three in the US$24.99 pile, yes?

I guess I'll have to figure out which combo will work best.

Kung-fu Hustle is awesome. Funny as hell, great action scenes and some damn good special effects. Even though it's rated R, it is different from the Asian cut since for some reason they decided to digitally remove a couple of blood shots and a scene where a piece of **** is shown has been removed, but other than that the violence is intact.

Too bad I already have most of those titles :(, but it still a great deal.

Could this happen? If so, you can get two movies for $10 net.

Nahhh, she didn't watch it after the beginning part, but I must say that a starved innocent child is far more depressing then a soldier being blown up, though thats no good either. Its just the fact that the innocent child has no choice and the world has turned cold against him. How often do you see people dying and getting killed in movies vs. seeing a dead, starved child?? We have become immune to the killing in theaters, but seeing a dead child still rubs more people in the wrong way.

quick question. In my area, there is a decent amount of selection of BD movies at the Best Buy near me. The movies that I wanted to get with this sale are actually in stock at the Best Buy near me, BUT there are not that many copies. 2 at max of each of the ones that I want. Now, if I purchase these BDs today or tomorrow(Saturday), can I get a price adjustment on Sunday as long as I bring the receipt with me? Reason being is that I do not want to wait until Sunday and luck out on getting a good title. Please let me know. Thanks again for the BD sale heads up!

That all depends on the store to be honest. Also, with most sales for DVD's we usually get them and keep them in the back until the sale begins. You should be able to do rainchecks also because from what I remember it didn't say anything about no rainchecks.

I just checked BB near my office at lunch time. They don't have half of what's on sale. I guess I'll have to hit up the one by my house early to take advantage of the sale. Let's hope they have alot in stock. I wonder if you can do rainchecks? Thanks for the headsup!

Maybe they are holding back stock for the Sunday sale?

When you go to check out the register will automatically recognize the deal and it will come up on the screen. You shouldn't have to mention wnything, but just be sure it does come up. What BB has done lately for price reductions/freebies is to spilt the difference of the sale item between all the other items on the receipt. So if you pick up say Black Hawk Down and Kung-Fu Hustle (both $25) for the BOGO deal. The receipt will show $12.50 for each.

When you get the items and take it to the register and they hit total there will be a popup stating that you get one free.

There's a 10% off regular priced movie game yada yada coupon from the 12th-15th. Anyone know if that's usable with this deal? I ask because i've got no clue if 24.99 and 29.99 are the regular prices for these, would sweeten the deal even more if they are.

The catch phrase "Markdowns taken from regular prices" on the coupon usually prevents this from happening.

Well, I guess I'll be getting Underworld Evolution, but what should I get for my free movie? I don't care about Talladega Nights, Flying Daggers, or Kung Fu Hustle. Monster House or Black Hawk Down? Which is better in both quality and as a movie?
I think BHD is a fantastic movie. I got a PS3 yesterday and finally got it hooked up around midnight (we finally got a babysitter :D ). I cranked up the projector, put in BHD, and watched almost the entire movie after checking out the picture quality for a bit. I had forgotten how intense this movie is. It's not a particularly "fun" movie to watch, but it should be in most movie libraries. Good picture, great sound.

Actually these are regular price (and about $5 more than you'd find them for about everywhere online, go BB!).

Double checked the coupon though and it says not good with any other offers or something like that so throw that idea to the wind heh.

I saw the ad with 7 movies...I want BHD....not interested in the rest...they have other BluRay movies I want but only 7 listed as for sale....weak...perhaps I'll sell the other on ebay.

The poor initial pic quality of the first way of Bluray movies really reduces the list of titles I want to buy...but that will improve and I guess they will reissue some of the botched titles like 5th Element and hopefully House of Flying Daggers.

Guys, I have a question concerning the rebate booklet that came with PS3. In the terms, it mentions one rebate per movie per studio. Does that mean I can get a total of $30 from one studio since there are three movies per studio on each rebate form?

I'm planning on buying Click and Talladega Nights. Can I send in one rebate form along with the receipt and the two original UPC? I would usually call the rebate center but they are close for the weekend and I'm afraid my local BB will be out of stock on these movies due to this promotion. Thanks

If it is in the printed ad, Bestbuy will almost always allow you to order it online at the same price. This included most of their prior buy-one-get-one DVD sales in the past. Expect to pay shipping though.

I just couldn't pull the trigger on Click, no matter how good it may look because that movie is such a drag IMO, so after a few minutes deliberating in the store, my 2nd choice was House of Flying Artifacts, I hope the PQ isn't too bad, I'm encouraged by what I read in the "How Bad..." thread, at least I liked the movie. Surprised to say no other customers were looking at the Blu titles while I was making up my mind... they had all of the sale titles in stock & available (Golden Ring BB in Baltimore).

Just picked up Underworld Evolution, Talladega Nights, Monster House and Click from local BB for $63 including tax. Went across the street to CC to pickup House of Flying Daggers and Kung Fu Hustle for ~$25 price matching BB. I probably would not have bought any of these discs for what they were originally asking, but it's funny what a sale like this would make me do. I know I've complained about problems with both HoFD and KFH, but for $12.50 each, I can live with the imperfections. UE and HoFD were both double dips for me. KFH was a triple dip for me. I already have the limited HK 2 disc edition, and super limited Korean 2 disc edition with the large hand cast.

I am now up to 27 Blu-ray discs compared to 93 HD DVDs.

Well, I am now holding the ring of power we will see if I pass the test. At Best Buy I found a 20Gb PS3 with Talladega Nights in the box. Black Hawk Down, Underworld Evolution, Kung Fu Hussle, and Click on the 2for 1 sale. I alsmost got the other two, Monster and House of Flying Daggers but heard bad things about the latter. Is the BD version of House Daggers better than the DVD because the DVD version is very out of focus etc.

I brought in a price match from fry's and best buy honored it, so i got monster house and kungfu hustle for 24 bucks with tax. Can't beat that deal, wish they did this every week. Remember to bring in your price matches because BB is way over priced on most movies they sell

I just picked up Click, House of Flying Daggers, Black Hawk Down, and Underworld Evolution in the deal, as well as a copy of The Wild, as the we desperately needed something PG or below that we could watch as a family.

I went to bestbuy to pick up the ad... they had not one of the movies on the ad in stock as usual. So I went to the CC I mentioned in another thread and they have every BD in stock that is released... No BS, they have them all. Anyway... the girl was amazed at the price/free offer they had so she one upped them. I got each movie on the list (all but Click, already had it) for $10.99 each. You can't beat that... it beats the hell out of the promotion.... I just watched Black Hawk Down... that movie looks amazing and sounds just as good.

I was able to order the $24.99 titles with the buy one get one free promotion when I was playing with the website earlier, but it wasn't letting me add two $29.99 movies and get the buy one get one free, even though it was through the link on the website that shows the deal. But, in any case, you can buy the movies online and have them shipped.

Make sure you have only two movies per order. The order form is not smart enough to combine 4 or more together.

I went into BB last Fri. after reading about the sale here and stashed Monster House and Underworld behind other regular DVD's as I thought they would be gone by the time I got there Sunday. Well, I was right. I arrived about 1 yesterday and most of these titles were gone. I went to where I hid my 2 movies and they were still there. Bought them and left. I dont know how dishonest this was but I have my two movies for one. :D

OK, I think I did one better - went to my local BB here today to pick up a few. Actually I wanted Click and Monster House. After looking around I could not find Click so went to a store rep to check his inventory level for both these BR's. He said that they have 4 of Click and 1 MH. Well I got the Click but no MH so I asked him if he will sub another movie in this BOGO deal - he said YES!!!

I ended up getting Click and Flightplan ;). Can't beat that......

Infact, I did not want Monster House to begin with anyways....so this worked out perfect!

YOu can't imagine how much I would love to trade this unopened Monster House for IA2. I bet my Walmart has Zero BluRay discs or they just have Xmen3 becuase they think it goes with the PS3's or something.

Could someone tell Warner Bro's.

You bet? I've been to two WMs in my area, and it's still the only movie they have on either HD format, sitting right there with the rest of the PS3 games. I wonder if there actually was some mix-up, or if every store got it as a test to see if it would sell.

Yup all 3 walmarts around me only carry X-Men 3, and its locked up with the games, so if you want it you have to go find an electronics associate who is usually outside smoking so that you can get the movie.

I thought I missed the boat today. I didn't go on Sunday. I went in today none of the seven BR promos were on the shelf and I thought I was out of luck. I asked the lady in blue I wanted to pick up UW and Click. We both went to three different areas of BR disc shelfs and found none. She looked it up and found they had five each of the promos. She sent someone to the back to look. After 40 minutes they can't find it. Good thing it was an electronic store without the wifey or else I wouldn't hear the end of it. She finally gave me a raincheck. Thumbs down BB for not stocking up!!! and not able to find your merchandise!!!!

Brian Hampton

He likely used the receipt.

The receipt shows one movie at full price and the other at 0.

You can return the full price movie and get your money back. The other one cost 0.

That also works anytime that have something like Buy any DVD player and get a free DVD. You can return the player and keep the DVD. It's purely the fault of how they ring it up.

You may decide it's wrong and choose not to do it, but that's another story.

They ought to charge you half for each and then only allow returns for store credit without receipt for lowest advertized price. (That's the way it's done by retailer in the know.)

This is true as far as keeping a record. I returned a camcorder battery which I purchased online without any receipt. I told them it was a gift. The manager said they will give me a in store gift card (which was worth more than the battery cause I bought it online) but the manager said I could do this exchange without a receipt only one time per year.
