Have been considering upgrading my Denon 2900 to an upconverting DVD player.
Was interested in hearing thought of those who did the same. The Oppo seems to be a popular choice.
Has anyone noticed considerable picture quality improvements? I'm running it on a Sanyo Z2 projector.

Thanks!

You may want to consider the Denon 3930 or the Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player. You may be disappointed with the audio if you go with the Oppo (after the 2900), if you use the player's DACs.

The 720p output from my Oppo 970 is an upgrade from my 2900's 480p into my Panasonic AE900, I actually prefer the 970 to my 971 for its sharpness. The DVD-A/SACD audio seems on par with the 2900 through the analog outs, perhaps a bit brighter but not lacking detail or perceived soundstage. I bought the machine solely for SACD/DVD-A over HDMI, but now it'll be my SD DVD source also.

Thanks guys.
I'm going to do some side by side comparisons given the return policys.
In regards to using the 2900's DAC's, I don't. I've only used it as a DVD player running the Digital out to my Sherbourn preamp. I thought I was going to get into SACD/DVD-A, but never did. (like many)
