I have read allot on the forum about sacd. since I have a Acura car that plays DVD-A, I have bought about 9 disc's. Is there a good player on the market for a player of DVD-A? My Oppo plays them and my Arcam doesnt. An suggestions? or should I move on format?

Depends on the price. Some people will tell you about the dying formats, etc. Other will tell you about the incredible soundscapes and sense of picking out exactly where band members are playing their instruments in that soundscape.

Biggest concern is price.

I recently bought the Arcam DV139. It's unbelievably good. It plays SACD and DVD-A. But the MSRP is $2999. However, an Arcam dealer might be able to give you a deal if you're trading back with an Arcam unit.

I'm an Arcam nut (I have bi-amped AND bi-wired my 7.1 set up), and for critical listening, the DV139 is superb. A cheaper (non FMJ) alternative would be the DV137.

(I haven't even mentioned the 139's upscaling...) :)

Not sure what Oppo you've got, but my Oppo 970 compares favorably to my Denon $2900 for DVD-A and SACD, and is better than my 971. This is through the analog section, haven't gone HDMI for audio yet.

I have OPPO DV981HD DVD, Wow it compares to the Denon? I have automobile experience most with my DVD-A listening... Glad to hear the Oppo is a good sound.. The Arcam is a good choice I agree, but not in the budget right now.

Oppo support has been quoted numerous times in these forums saying the 970 is a bit better for audio than the 981. The difference has to do with the physical construction of the players. By the same token, I don't recall seeing any complaints about the sound of the 981. So, there's probably not much of a difference.
