I'll start off by saying I'm somewhat supprised that this thing can sound pretty decent playing music encoded w/ Apple Lossless or better. I tried AAC at 320Kbps & it was passable but it didn't particularly diplay enough of the quality of the CDs I own so I moved up the encoding ladder. Actually AIFF sounded even nicer but I believe it used up the battery charge quicker than I liked. Needless to say, I have no qualms about trading space for audio quality. So I guess my question is this: Has anyone heard of any plans for a portable device aimed toward the audiophile who does'nt need a "Super Micro Mini" universal(everyting has to be that these days)A/V player? I realize that is more of a rhetorical question but I'm hoping someone has.

The IPOD has received excellent reviews for audio quality from a variety of audio sources including The Perfect Sound.
