GamerGuyX 01-14-07, 04:08 PM No Link, I just confirmed with my Sony Rep. ~Josh You are who again? shamus 01-14-07, 04:17 PM http://www.thedigitalbits.com/ Sony has revealed (but not yet officially announced) the DVD and Blu-ray Disc release of The Holiday and Rocky Balboa on 3/20, as expected. They also have Stranger Than Fiction set for DVD and Blu-ray on 2/27. As far as high-definition, Fox and MGM have announced the following Blu-ray titles and dates: Dances with Wolves, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story - Rated, Hoosiers, Ice Age and The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) (all 3/13), and Dude, Where's My Car?, The Fly (1986), Hannibal, Me, Myself, and Irene, The Silence of the Lambs and Tristan & Isolde (4/3). Couple more... The Guardian 1/23 Babel 2/20 Alexander Revisited 2/27 Happy Feet 3/27 I may have missed one or two.... BEATBOY..... Get busy updating your list!!!! dpags 01-14-07, 04:31 PM Sweet, bring on the Rocky! I think you mean Babel, not Babe though. Bob Meridian 01-14-07, 04:32 PM Hiya Bob! When is that new player of yours coming out...? ;) Never! HD-DVD is all hype and no go. Meridian will take the superb viewing experience of Blu-ray over HD-DVD fanboy hype any day :) shamus 01-14-07, 04:34 PM Sweet, bring on the Rocky! I think you mean Babel, not Babe though. LOL... changed it! dpags 01-14-07, 04:37 PM Yeah, I didn't think Universal would switch over that early :) beatboy77 01-14-07, 05:01 PM http://www.thedigitalbits.com/ Couple more... The Guardian 1/23 Babel 2/20 Alexander Revisited 2/27 Happy Feet 3/27 I may have missed one or two.... BEATBOY..... Get busy updating your list!!!! Updated. ~Josh Dave Mack 01-14-07, 05:15 PM we just watched a screener of babel the other nite. There was some amazing photography in it, (though, yes, GASP!!! grainy!!!!) If you liked 21 grams, similar somber vibe, (same director) GamerGuyX 01-14-07, 06:15 PM Never! HD-DVD is all hype and no go. Meridian will take the superb viewing experience of Blu-ray over HD-DVD fanboy hype any day :) Yeah it's HD DVD that is known for being built on hype. ModelWD-52628 01-14-07, 06:24 PM Rocky Balboa already coming to BD? It's still playing in the movies... Dave Mack 01-14-07, 06:39 PM it probably won't be come march.... dpags 01-14-07, 08:06 PM Yeah, theatrical-to-disc windows have been shrinking immensely the past few years. I'd say it's the exception nowadays for a film to come out on disc more than four months from theatrical release. William Mapstone 01-14-07, 08:24 PM Wow I didn't expect this one so soon! Thanks for the info beatboy nyg 01-14-07, 08:29 PM Looking forward to Rocky Balboa. Just watched the Rocky BD last night and am all hyped on Rocky again. Hopefully parts 2-4 will arrive on BD soon. Fox/MGM doesn't need to bother with part 5. ;) dpags 01-14-07, 08:34 PM LOL, I've never even watched Part 5 from my DVD box set. I think I'll go right to Balboa next. eightninesuited 01-14-07, 10:25 PM Yeah it's HD DVD that is known for being built on hype. "Up to 7.1 lossless audio". They advertise this on every disc, where is it? ;) ModelWD-52628 01-15-07, 08:56 AM Looking forward to Rocky Balboa. Just watched the Rocky BD last night and am all hyped on Rocky again. Hopefully parts 2-4 will arrive on BD soon. Fox/MGM doesn't need to bother with part 5. ;) I rented that one on Netflix as well. Did you have strange audio during the fight? I'm curious if it was my setup. It just didnt sound like the punchs were hitting hard. The movie looks great though and I hope Rocky II is coming to blue ray or HD soon as well. Bob Meridian 01-15-07, 09:44 AM Yeah it's HD DVD that is known for being built on hype. The only things keeping HD-DVD alive right now are lies and Hype. TwisTz 01-15-07, 10:03 AM The only things keeping HD-DVD alive right now are lies and Hype. LOL. You guys make me laugh... keep spreading the BS.... Bob Meridian 01-15-07, 10:27 AM LOL. You guys make me laugh... keep spreading the BS.... Keep telling youself that :D The writing is on the wall...HD-DVD is a cooked goose. shamus 01-15-07, 10:50 AM I rented that one on Netflix as well. Did you have strange audio during the fight? I'm curious if it was my setup. It just didnt sound like the punchs were hitting hard. The movie looks great though and I hope Rocky II is coming to blue ray or HD soon as well. Yep... ModelWD-52628 01-16-07, 10:56 AM Blue Ray Capacity around 50GB HD DVD Around 30GB "Blu-ray admitted to BetaNews that most discs won't go beyond the 25GB mark" "better codec technology, such space is not actually needed for high-definition movies" http://www.betanews.com/article/HD_DVD_Bluray_Has_Problems/1136673259 With Space being the one advantage of Blue Ray whats stopping companies from having 2 HD disks (If they even need that kind of space as you can see from the quote above). The packaging is already smaller then normal DVD cases and the Disks won't cost them a fortune once it catches on. HD Toshiba Player runs about half the cost of a Blue Ray player. I have both players so I don't really care who wins the race. It would be nice to have 1 format that is accepted though. The one thing Blue Ray has right now is some movies I want on that format and HD the same thing. WirelessGuru 01-16-07, 03:17 PM "Up to 7.1 lossless audio". They advertise this on every disc, where is it? ;)Most films only have 5.1 discrete because that is the way they are mixed for theaters. I don't think you will see much in the way of studios spending the time and money to incorporate discrete 6.1 or 7.1 for the tiny percentage of people who actually have an audio setup above 5.1. It just doesn't make much sense to do at this point in time. |
