View Full Version : Porn is coming to Blu-ray
from Vivid. Their first title will be Debbie Does Dallas...Again. I can't post URLs yet but if you go to the blu-ray website and to their General Discussion forum and to the thread "LOL! HD-DVD is turning into the porno format!", page 3, you'll find info there, including a link to a video interview of Vivid.
Let's try contacting other adult companies and tell them about how Vivid managed to get around the replication issue so that 1) If you enjoy porn, you can enjoy it on Blu-ray 2) Even if you don't enjoy porn, it will be a strategic edge for Blu-ray to be available on porn as much as HD-DVD is
user7800 01-14-07, 07:12 PM Nice, the more support the better.
gand41f 01-14-07, 07:40 PM I absolutely have no interest in porn (:p) but I certainly don't mind more content. Having more people working with Blu-ray will help drive the cost down, making my movies cheaper too.
no, seriously
gandalf :o
HD ta ta's... sounds good to me.
chuckken 01-14-07, 08:37 PM Absolutely disgusting...A complete waste of HD technology...
SamIam2 01-14-07, 08:50 PM hmmmm ... while I am not an advocate for porn in general, I would say that at this point in the adoption game, one should not discount or downplay any aspect of potential format distribution. The runaway adoption of either format in the adult industry could have a signficant long term effect on the larger issue of HD in the home.
I think it was mentioned in another thread that part of Betas downfall as a format was due to a similar friction between Sony and the adult industry ... while this comparsion may not be apples to apples, I think it can be viewed as the kind of mindset that can hinder an otherwise viable product.
At this point, I would think that both camps would be actively recruiting for as many inroads as possible in order to create the kind of practical consumer market share that would encourage the average buyer that the format is mature enough (by virtue of selection and availability).
necrolop 01-14-07, 09:31 PM I want HD Porn cause its HD. I may buy 1 or 2 of them to show off to friends.
But porn isnt as important here as it was on VHS. On VHS it was a revolution, home viewing of porn, amazing. Well now days people are used to that , its no biggie. And the internet has become the main method of porn distribution. Often free, massive quantities, all at your fingertips, no going outside, no being seen, not even by other people at a porn shop. Thats the appeal. So I dont think porn is even close to being decicive here.
Although im not sure why there are porn phobes here. Never seen a boobie before? Give me a break, if you dont want to watch a chick get ass ****ed, then dont buy the disc, but dont be upset if I want to watch a girl get ass ****ed in High Definition, as it is my right.
Bad_Boy_ 01-14-07, 09:41 PM Heres the video of Vivid claiming support for blu-ray. It should be safe since it's on MSN's site, but maybe NSFW.

chokeslam 01-14-07, 09:46 PM Did you notice the CNBC (Universal company) anchor kept bugging him to go with HD DVD instead of both? What a c*nt.
AZHTGeek 01-14-07, 09:49 PM Sounds like a Tru-HD disk from the "Combo" format comment... Interesting...
rexdigital 01-14-07, 11:54 PM I don't want any porn in HD.
Hell even in DVD you see all kinds of yuck you wouldn't see on vhs.
Dave Mack 01-15-07, 12:27 AM Do you know how horrid some of these old school porn "actors" will look in HD...?
oof
lmao, one of the text message at the bottom of the screen during the interviews says " warner bros, paramount, UNIVERSAL, & vivid suppor both HD DVD and Blu-Ray"
gotta love mainstream media :p

People that don't know about CNBC or investing need to know it is owned by GE and tied with MSNBC, Microsoft, etc. They all have a stake in seeing HD DVD succeed, so take everything they say and read between the lines.

Wow he doesnt sound happy, Sony better start helping these guys out.
MovieSoundGuy 01-15-07, 03:38 AM I think it was mentioned in another thread that part of Betas downfall as a format was due to a similar friction between Sony and the adult industry
This is very true!
Beta vs. VHS ended when the porn industry adopted VHS. and beta was a much 'better' format too.
Whether you like porn or not, you can't ignore just how incredibly huge the industry is - and it's influence.
Even with the internet being the adult industry's biggest gold coin, it's still big enough to help sway the BD vs. HD-DVD issue IMO.

I didnt even realise that when I posted the link, now that I watch it again, it makes a lot of sense. You can really tell that she (or her employer) doesnt support blu-ray. :p That said, the BDA better throw these guys a bone.

I'd bet still better than many AVSers signficant others. ;)

CNBC being owned by GE is a very "American" company. It is the good old boys at the helm in corporate America trying to do the same as Sony, market and sell.
Steve Hirsch even said right in the interview that Blu Ray is a better format and technically it is considered by many int eh industry to be better, but will better win out or at least be part of the HD future, who knows. It will be sad if the inferior product wins the "war".
max-pain 01-15-07, 09:55 AM Porn is already on Blu-ray:
