I know I'm a little off the reservation with this topic but I'm building a house that will include a sound system and dedicated HT. I’m talking to two companies and the first just sent their proposal. They are recommending Integra components for all the receivers, CD and DVD players for both the home sound system and HT. They are recommending Speakercraft in-ceiling speakers for the house’ sound system. For the HT, they are again recommending Integra receiver and DVD components with Triad in-wall speakers (I specified in-wall), and floor subwoofers. I’ve never heard of these companies and I guess I’m looking for some general input like “That stuff is great” or “That stuff isn’t so great.” Any help would be most appreciated.

FYI…for the projector I’m thinking about the Sharp 20000, JVC RS-1 or the Runco RS1100.

Where you located? There is nothing necessarily wrong with those brands.

I'm not familiar with all of the brands you mention in your post, but I can say you probably would save money putting systems together yourself. I say this, because I also got a proposal from a couple of companies local to me and then found this forum.

The proposals for a 7.1 surround speakers, PJ, screen, and programable remote were around $26K. (One came in just above that - one a little lower) After researching through this site - learning about the various components, etc. - I've got my system cost down to ~$11k and will have a BETTER projector and a nicer set of speakers and subwoofers (7.2 now). This savings didn't add up without a lot of work but it was worth it - and now I can buy in confidence. I'd recommend you do the same if you have the time and are into saving some coin...
