I was watching a CES show and saw that microsoft was planning on having some sort of sports VOD through vista. I was just wondering if anyone thinks we could see out of market HD games through something like IPTV?

HDTVFanAtic 01-16-07, 05:45 AM You won't be seeing HD on IPTV anytime soon - in fact, probably not in the lifetime of Vista. Aro 01-16-07, 09:11 AM Even with full adoption of FTTP, I don't see the internet at large being able to consistently support the bandwidth needed for HD for a very long time. I've got access to a 100Mbit connection to the internet, and it realistically peaks at about 12Mbit/second. Which would make for pretty bad-looking HD. There's just too many variables out there when you put the internet into the picture. lvthunder 01-16-07, 03:32 PM For live stuff I doubt you'll see HD on the internet, but if it doesn't have to be live like most stuff on TV I think you will see HD. There is a show called MacBreak that sends it out in 1080p if you want it. Willie 01-16-07, 05:57 PM http://www.ihd.org/ |
